The budget Vader.

Over the years I've picked up most of the components needed to put together a semi-decent 1:1 scaled Vader.

I realize that most of these parts aren't screen accurate but screen accuracy has never been my real goal. I just wanted to have something on display that looked like a decent representation of Vader. The mannequin has always been my biggest problem - I couldn't find anything that was an appropriate height or had decent mass to it. So I purchased the largest mannequin I could find (happened to be all black.) and threw the costume on.

I know these pics are dark but I wanted some general impressions. After seeing the costume together I do want to upgrade the chestbox, armor and belt. Please be kind. :) ...

I would only change the cod-piece (and perhaps the belt buckle), but other than that I would say you have an extremely cool Vader display there. :thumbsup

Thats exactly what I was going to say. The cod really needs to be changed but that's the only big thing. Well done. :thumbsup

I third that - nice display, but you really need to upgrade that cod piece.

Aside from that - :thumbsup

PS - ask Russrep about one of his machined belt buckles; quality bit of kit, you won't be dissapointed.

Looks very cool. Looks good in that light. Which helmet did you go for?

Impressive most impressive.

DRAGONFLY

I think I have the exact same mannequin. I think your Vader looks superb...

Isn't it a cool feeling when it comes together? Can you share your approximate budget on this?

Oh, and change the cod. :lol

Seriously, good work.

Thanks a lot for the comments everyone. So I guess I'm going to have to change that cod piece. :)

Dragonfly - yes, it's a DP Deluxe (good eye Darth Kahnt). Part of the CKing run. I also have a Fyberdyne that I could use but it needs some sort of mounting device to attach the dome on.

ob1al - thanks for the tip on the belt buckle. I'm going to look into that.

Hedjii72 - yes. I'm pretty sure we have the same mannequin. Mine is 6'4" as well but the helmet gives it a few inches (plus I don't have boots on mine yet). Your right man - it does feel good to finally put some of this stuff up.

To be quite honest with you I don't remember how much I've spent on it in total. I've been collecting the parts over the years and taking advantage of bargains whenever I could find them in either the Junkyard or over on ebay (which explains the cod piece :)). I would say total for everything excluding the helmet and mannequin was around the $800 mark? Helmet and mannequin combined was an additional $750.

Thanks. I actually own a cKing myself. Nice lid.

Looking sweet heres my budget vader everything under 1000 dollars U.s including mannequinn its based on the rubies supreme but totally modified including replacement of most parts. Tis is my first post in the RPF waiting a while to join and I have to say thank you to all the people that contributed information on making a vader for cheap on these forums it helped me so much while browsing...thanks..

pics are a little bad due to lighting but you get the jist, I put this all together including mannequinn for less than 1000 dollars u.s, what do you think... its about 85% complete. all the buttons light up including correct sequence on chest and even the saber has special effects(de bladed fx with all the electronics in tact). I still have the inner robe to do and attach the chain as well as change the resistors in the beltboxes to make the green leds brighter. mannequinn is 6ft 7inches

Very nice TD2878.

I love that second pic.

If you don't mind me asking, where did you get a 6'7" mannequin?
