Soooo....

I got home today to see that my NECA Black Pearl had arrived...WOOOHOOOOO.

Measuring about 24" long and approximately 21" tall, it's a pretty nice representation of 'ol Captain Jack's beloved ship...I know that these are not the best pics, but they'll have to do until I can take some better ones tomorrow.

The masts are a little short, as it looks like it was modeled after the full size ship instead of the filming model built at ILM...But overall it's a very nice piece for the money...

All the information that I found online said that it would be limited to 2000 pieces...However, the certificate that accompanies the ship says that they are limited to only 500 pieces, so I'm not sure which one is correct.

My only real beef with it is that one of the anchors was broken in half, and another small piece had popped off during shipping...I'm going to contact the vendor tomorrow and see what my options are...

I've got a MR coin necklace and Davy Jones Key on the way...If I can just get my hands on a Dead Man's Chest replica, I think I'll be all set :D

Let me know what you think...

Really cool, I was on the fence about that. Kind of disappointed with the masts though.

At Fall Toy Fair, one of Master Replicas' sales sheets had a studio scale Black Pearl listed on it. While MR stated that the products on the sales sheets weren't yet confirmed, at least they're considering it. I'll hold out for that piece...

I purchased this one at Amazon.com

A MR studio scale version would be most impressive, and I will definitely buy one if they decide to offer them...However, it will probably cost much more than the $120 I dropped for this one...(and that did include free shipping)

To be honest, I kinda stumbled across this piece. I had been wanting a Black Pearl to display for some time, but I had not heard about any being made available...(at least not in an "official" capacity)...So after several random searches, I found out about this one and decided to give it a shot.

It will be a nice display piece until something better comes along...

I'll try to take some better pics outside so you can see if under more "natural" light...

Now THAT would be cool...

I have a feeling there will be even more cool ships to collect after POTC 3 debuts this summer :)

Is the POTC Ship made of wood ro plastic??

I like this...

Does it have a plaque? What does it say?

Was there assembly required? or all together out of box?

Tell me more.

Hi Tom,

It is made mostly of wood, with the exception of some of the smaller details which look to be resin.

The plaque on the base is brass with "The Black Pearl" silkscreened on it...It also comes with a full color COA.

It's also ready to display right out of the box...There was absolutely no assembly required...

I should have some better pics later today.

Hope that helps,
Jason

My Grandfather used to make replica ship models and had some vintage ones. This model acually captures the look of the Vintage ones he had very well. Of course "vintage" when I was a kid means "antique" now :) Nice model, would look good on a "respectable" mantlepiece for sure.

Anyone notice that the tops of the masts were left off?
It also seems like they went with the CotBP version. The Dead Man's Chest version of the ship is a lot more streamlined and realistic.
It is a nice looking peice though. Has that old time ship model feel.

Yep...As i said earlier, the masts are definitely short...

If anyone has seen the pics of the full scale Pearl that they built for filming Dead Man's Chest, the masts were done the same way...So I think they must have used it for at least SOME reference...

NOoooooOOO.

Do NOT let my wife see this.

At least, until I can track one down and surprise her with it.

She doesn't even know this exists.

Hey could a low wattage bulb be put inside
and thus make all the porthols light up from inside when on display?

I have a 2 1/2 foot titanic ship that is super accurate on display.
The enitre length of ship has a florescent bulb the length and every porthole lights from inside. Looks amazing.

Looks like this could be done on this for added effect??
I also am concerned about the top of the masts not correct?

Any easy ways to fix this?

Can we get a picture of the plaque?
Does the sails have the "Skull" on them?

More pics please...
Looks great, how would you rate this on a one to ten??
