I know there are already a few amazing spider-man masks and costumes floating around the forum but i wanted to try and make a more economical and efficient mask i.e. no puff paint honeycombs
you can read about a few of the tests i did before hand in this thread http://www.therpf.com/f24/amazing-spider-man-costume-material-156684/
so i went with the stretchy mesh idea (£5 a meter) attached to red 4 way stretch lycra (£3.99 a meter).
i have still used black glossy 3d paint for the web lines, however this takes nowhere near as long as doing the honeycombs. to do the web lines i made a stencil that i could see through the mesh while i applied the 3d paint.
once everything had dried i stitched all the layers of material together using a (stretchy) zig zag stitch on a sewing machine.
So far this project has cost me £16.04, not too bad for a low budget project
below are some pictures of my process so far. constructive criticism is welcome
