Hi everyonei'm thinking about making an amazing spider-man mask and possibly a full costume, however purchasing/designing a lycra print is way out of my budget. However i have had an idea to recreate the 3D honeycomb effect on the suit, which i havent seen anybody do yet.
my idea is to make a negative cast of something like this (see image) to make a mold, of which you then cast red liquid latex in. you then cut the cast latex to the correct size and glue it to the lycra of the costume to fit between the webbing of the costume. Does anybody know if it will work? by the way the lego brick is just a size comparison.
i'm aware that the shape of the holes in the material in the image i have provided would not give the correct honeycomb pattern to be movie accurate, but i'm just curious if it'll work. it seems an easier way to create this effect rather than using the puff paint method that people are using. Also does anybody know what the best adhesive is to glue latex rubber to lycra fabric?

Anyway this seems to be the best way i've come up with at the moment, but i'm having issues attaching this mesh to the lycra, i've tried flexible adhesive and also applying latex to the mesh to give it more grip and more of the movie look, none of these ways have been particularly effective as the fabric loses its stretch. The only other way i can see is sewing it to the lycra, but this could be time consuming, there's got to be a better way... so come on guys lets hear your ideas
