Thats No Moon! Levitating death star.

Hello all, i thought i would share my levitating Death Star model i made from a levitating globe desk toy.

Stripping the cover off the domes.

Drawing the laser "eye"

Cutting out and flipping the hole to give the "eye" dish.

Paint and test float

drilling city scape lights.

masking off ready for second tone of paint.

After paint.

Making a tiny scale Super star destroyer. 12.9 mm long.

i used one of those Levitating globe desk toys, so they are levitated with an electro magnet in the top of the frame and a strong magnet in the top of the globe.

nope, you just have to keep an eye on how much weight you put on the globe. i did a test with some 2p (uk) coins and it could only hold 2 of them, any more weight it just fell out of the magnetic field.
