TFU2 Starkiller - Jedi Experimental Armor

Hello RPF! This is my first post, and my first request for help. I want to build the Experimental Jedi Armor from The Force Unleashed 2, and I wanted to start with the helmet. This helmet is very unique in the fact that all of the lensing is lit.

I'm going to use an existing Xcoser helmet of the Red Hood, and fill in any unnecessary Red Hood details with Bondo and sand it down. As for the lens, like lit Iron Man eyes, I've read that I need two lenses: One interior lens with mirrored tint applied, and an exterior lens with LED's beaming in from the edge of the lens. I'm not sure what to do? Where should I get the lens? How thick? Plexiglass, acrylic, polycarbonate, thoughts? I think I can use a replacement "face shield" lens for maybe one of the lenses. Help RPF, I don't want to go down a bad path, if anyone has already figured out an effective way to do lighted helmet lensing.

I really like this armor and was considering building it at one point, though other costumes have continued to take priority. I remember looking into using a cuttable EL sheet for the illuminated panels, though I don't recall if I ever concluded that they would/wouldn't work. But, it might be something to consider... or someone else here may have experience with them.
