Terminator fans: Your input needed...

Ok so this is a small project that grew out of an idea I had. Wasn't sure how it would turn out but now I'm thinking of producing a small "run".

The idea is "injured terminator tattoos" - or if you don't wanna get sued - "injured cyborg tattoos". I made up a sheet of temporary tattoos with fake gashes and bullet holes to make you look like an injured terminator... cyborg, sorry. Goal is a cheap and easy Halloween costume idea.

However...

I'd like to know if they're worth a crap (or not) and was hoping to get some market research & design feedback on them.

So...

First 5 posters in this thread get a free sheet of Injured Cyborg Tattoos - in exchange for your thoughts, comments and even photos of yourself wearing them. I'd prefer men and women (since Cameron on TSCC is very popular now) so I may have to say first 4 guys and first 1 woman posting here... not sure what the RPF M/F ratio is... we'll see. Or perhaps someone has Summer Glau's number? Maybe she'd model. :confused

You don't have to post your address, just that you're interested. I'll PM you for your addy in a day or so.

If you're not in the first 5 I'd still love to hear what you think of an idea like this. So please post anyway.

Thanks for reading!

Well, I love Terminator, but this might be a slim market you'd be catering too.
Not that the Terminator franchise is small, I just don't know about tattos.
I guess it would depend on how they look?

Well I wasn't looking to retire on it. ;)

Yeah, that's kinda why I was hoping to get some feedback from folks. I don't really want to go all out on it if it's just... not there.

I think they look good... just looking for 2nd, 3rd, 4th opinions on them.

This sounds really cool. i cant wait to see them! Face tattoos would be neat. Like open wounds on the cheek so you can see teeth and pistons and stuff.

Does sound cool. I use to get tats like this from some sorta bubble gum. Used them for Halloween in fact :) Count me in. I love this kinda stuff.

My apologies, I wasn't trying to sound like I was bashing your idea.:confused

Hmm. Well, I'd have to know the target pricing for these and the durability (are they the kind some amusement parks apply with the powder finish that last a week+). Finally, I guess we'd just have to see them to see the realism of them, and the look they take on applied to skin. Are you outsourcing them or producing them yourself? I wonder what the MOQ (minimum order quantity would be).

For the record, I think I'm the first chick to reply. :)

Good idea though, and good luck with them!

Open wounds, yes, but I was specifically leaving detail like teeth out so that people could put them where they want.

A little like this:

s320x240

Those would be cool to try out and freak people out. Great "easy" Halloween makeup idea.

I'm surprised no one has thought of this before, it would be a super easy detail add to a costume, in addition to, or instead of traditional makeup. Be a great thing to have for a multi day con, put em on the first day, and you're good to go the whole time! Stuff like bullet hits, slice marks, scuff wounds with bruising, burn wounds with charring would be perfect. Specific details would be good to see too, course they could only go in certain spots, but I don't see that being a problem, couple those with more generic damage hits and you'd really have a nice product! I could see this even as a base for 3D makeup, the tattoo underneith, little morticians wax, or liquid latex around the edges, sponge some makeup, little fake blood and you've got totally unique customiseable damage kit!

I should apply for a patent! ;)

I did a good bit of research on this before trying it out and that is what they do on the real terminator series. Whoever developed it got a Technical Emmy for it (but I don't think it was for TSCC). Saves the TV show time and $$.

I'm not claiming that mine are as good as the ones they use, but I think they are pretty decent. Perfect quick & easy Halloween costume IMHO.

I think its a great idea ! You could bet that a lot of costumers would jump on this. ( turning costumers into customers ! ) I'd love to see how they look. I have a couple of young nephews who would love to dress as terminators !

I got my tatts last night...THANKS Wackychimp!

Nice variety and patterns. I was a little excited and didn't realy realy the instructions for putting them on and applied 2 without removing the clear backing (yeah I know..I'm an idiot). One comment for the instrux might be to BOLD that line so morons like me can still apply them.

Obviously the first 2 didn't stay on long since I had the clear backing on my collarbone, not the actual tattoo. I did however show a few people in the office to see their reactions. One girl was grossed out immediately and would not look (she thought it was a real wound). They aren't very nerdy people so nobody really knew it was a Terminator wound.

Those 2 fell off soon tho (because I left on the clear backing). The next 2 I tried to follow the instrux..but the clear backing DID pull off the tattoo. I then softened them with water and manually peeled the tattoo part from the clear backing and held it on my skin. They did wrinkle a bit doing this but I did manage. I now have a small one on my shoulder and one on my collarbone (inconspicuous locations for the office). SO far they are staying on great and look pretty good (but slightly off because of wrinkles and not being on too straight since I had to peel and stick).

I do really like the detail in them and the woundparts look really pretty good!! Up close might be a bit obvious..but from a distance they should be quite convincing!

I will try a couple on my cheeks and forehead tongiht and get some pics!

Just a quick update. The smaller ones I have on (one on collarbone, one on shoulder)..I have been showing the guys in the shop and I am getting pretty good reactions from them. They aren't quite getting the terminator aspect of it..but they sure see them as wounds!! The one girl in the office HATES looking at them!!

I imagine the larger ones will appear more Terminator-ish.
