Terminator 2 Mini Gun 3D Print file question

Okay, I really know nothing about 3D printing.

This guy:
3d model mini gun

Has a file for the T2 mini gun he sells that says is ready to go.

Does that mean you could buy the file, take it to a 3D printer and have this thing built?

If so how much would that cost to print this sucker???

Thanks

It's hard to tell without looking at the mesh itself; but off the bat it looks like you might be able to print it. He says its box modeled so everything should be closed off and water tight already. Would just need to plug the barrels. It's a simple model, but I'd message the seller just in case. It's one thing to model for aesthetics, it's another thing entirely to model for printing.

As for cost, I'd estimate at around $15-$50 depending on size and material. (This is a quote for a small scale model, not 1:1)

If you are printing 1:1 scale, I think it would be prohibitively expensive. In my limited experience with 3d printing, I would imagine that model would take a lot of work to be print ready. It's certainly not impossible, but in my opinion 3d printing isn't the way to do this prop.

Be prepared is right. For a 1:1 scale of something that large? Literally.... thousands. You could ask the company that's going to print it if they can print a "burnt out". Meaning, they could "honey comb" the inside and give you a fair wall thickness. This would make the model light. However, the model is now more fragile. "Burn out"s are used during the manufacturing process for making aluminum parts. Still, you're looking at thousands.

Thanks guys. I figured it would be way too much. I just stumbled upon this last night.

I always wanted to build one of these 1/1. Not an airsoft, just a prop.
