Teragon's Iron Man MK 47

Re: Teragon's Iron Man MK 7 plastic foamcore suit [starting the HUD !] /!\Pics heavy/

Merci ! That's gonna be useful, I'll try that tomorrow. Although maybe it's also because the hand is a tricky piece ... We'll see.

Re: Teragon's Iron Man MK 7 plastic foamcore suit [starting the HUD !] /!\Pics heavy/

good to see the inside of the helmet :D

Re: Teragon's Iron Man MK 7 plastic foamcore suit [starting the HUD !] /!\Pics heavy/

sooo did you change the gold part that should have been red ?

Re: Teragon's Iron Man MK 7 plastic foamcore suit [starting the HUD !] /!\Pics heavy/

Yup, cut the part out of the faceplate where it mistakenly was and glued it to the helmet. The faceplate has been primed, tomorrow I'll test my gold on it, hopefully it's a correct shade.
By the way, I owe you big time : the wet sanding made my life much much easier ! I'll finally finish this hand tomorrow thanks to you ! It was starting to drive me crazy ^^

Re: Teragon's Iron Man MK 7 plastic foamcore suit [starting the HUD !] /!\Pics heavy/

hehe i knew it would help ! :p without this tip from doc i could have spent 1 or 2 days just on sanding !!

Re: Teragon's Iron Man MK 7 plastic foamcore suit [starting the HUD !] /!\Pics heavy/

I've been thinking about the camera/video glasses thing too. I really look forward to seeing your results. I'm not exactly sure how to do it but it does seem totally plausible. The quality might not be great though. I was thinking I would use it in addition to being able to see through the eye holes somehow. What camera where you thinking of using?

Re: Teragon's Iron Man MK 7 plastic foamcore suit [starting the HUD !] /!\Pics heavy/

It's a tiny CCTV spy cam I found on Amazon, not the best quality but it's the most tiny and compact camera I could find ! And the picture is quite all right. Of course I wouldn't mind upgrading but I have yet to find a better camera as tiny as the one I have ! Of course like I said earlier in the thread, you can go with a bigger better camera placed somewhere in the suit where there is more space but then the feed won't follow your head movements ! I tried but it kinda makes me nauseous :D

as you can see, faceplate has been corrected since the profile picture.

:lol
Sorry couldn't resist !
Kidding aside, I think I do know what you mean, in the vent above the faceplate ?. Unfortunately there isn't enough space neither, as tiny as my camera is, it's still boxy, can't get the lens in the hollow part, I'm blocked by the top of the helmet ! It would require a slimmer camera !
One thing though, the more I see other builds (yours is great by the way, made me realise my chest is wrong !), the more it seems that the helmet fits snug, with the nose almost touching the face plate. Won't be possible with my system, there will be a least one inch between the front of the helmet and my face... So if anyone wants to attempt this, be aware that you'll need a slightly bigger helmet than what you would be using for a classic helmet.

Good luck then ! You made me wonder something though, how is the Mark VII helmet different from the previous one exactly ?

I made the elbow hinge finally today, decided to glue the elbow part to the biceps since it wasn't following my elbow movements anyway, and 3D designed my elbow hinge pods, as well as the hip pods. Should have them by August 27th or so they told me.

Ok thanks omarbou, I'll try to correct my helmet then. Shouldn't be too hard, a little bit of bond, a little bit of sanding and a dremel et voilà !
Speaking of helmet, I painted the faceplate today, and I'm pleased with the result ! It's a bit more golden than the photo shows, very close to the SDCC display suit, and I tried to get the brushed effect as well :

And a shot with the eyes taped, it wasn't holding well at all, but you get the idea. It will be glued in a totally form fitting way, no gaps between them and the faceplate.

Also finally primed this bloody glove, took me forever to get something decent, and there is still some sanding and smoothing to do as you can see. Other then that, I think it turned ok for a foam glove ! By the way, it's actually 2 pieces tied together with elastic band on the inside, allowing my hand to go through more or less easily. The handplate is following not far. Fingers however are still nowhere, I'm not sure I can do it with foam the way I usually do, and 3D printing for 28 pieces is pricey ...

What do you guys think ?

Hi Teragon. Nice build, I've been following it. Your images have been helping with my build. Will you be willing to share your 3D files for the pods?

sure, feel free to use them but don't sell them please, that's all I ask.
iron man elbow pod.obj
iron man hip pod.obj
Not sure how clean are the meshes, it was ok in blender but I haven't checked them after the .obj conversion. Does the job once printed from the .obj file, but you probably will have to scale them, I do it directly on sculpteo.com, not in the 3D software so if the website you want to use doesn't offer scaling, you'll have to do it yourself.
Here are the pics sculpteo sent me yesterday after they printed everything, I should have them tomorrow

Thanks a bunch. I won't. We have a 3D printer here at work. Just need to get permission to make these for my build :)

Will have to do a bit of sanding as you can see, for the hip pods at least.
I also completed one hand, but now I noticed the pattern isn't accurate. I'll see if I can fix this later.

Hoping to have a bicep and the matching hand plate fully done tomorrow.
