Teach me about mold making please.

Ok i have been a modeler for a while but have never been as adventurous as to make a mold so that I can make a slush casts from. I know you use a silicone "jacket" and then surround it in fiberglass or some rigid material to keep in in a specific shape. But thats as far as i got. I dont know what registry keys are for or even how to make the fiberglass shell come apart into 2 pieces. I fear im in a bit over my head (which seems to be common for me).
