Re: A lot of people working on TASM but are you also working on your fitness?

Spidey has been a great source of motivation to stay fit since I have to wear the costume many times a year. I'm 5.8" 165 lbs. going on a strict diet to tone down those ABS.

Hey i'm pretty new to theRPF. I see this tread talking about right dieting and working out and posting about what to eat. But i don't see anyone talking about drinking fluids. Here is my story.

I have a problem with gaining weight. I can eat as much and i want and not gain a sigle pound. Going to the gym helped me gain some weight and put on some muscle. But the problem is that i don't drink as much fluids as i need.
I normaly drank about 1 liter a day.
Drinking more helped me gain muscles faster as you body consistes of 60-70% of water.
For your body to get rid of most toxins you have to simply pee more.
What helps to drink more is alway have a bottle of water with you. You just start automaticly drinking more. I've been going to the gym for almost a year now and gained about 11 pounds (5kg).
For the last monts i've been drinking about 2-3 liters a day. 1 liter per 1000 callories.
Also drink water between exsersises. It realy does help to get you more reps.

**Don't start drink allot overnight** your body needs to adjust to drinking more water.
ATM 20 years, 6ft tall and 154 pounds (1.83 meter and 70 kg)
My goal is 176 pounds with clean muscle and about 2-5% body fat index.

Jeez man! You Canadians get more protein in your water or something. Or maybe the altitude boosts your training more who knows...LOL. Looking good G!

Well said Ratz! I do drink my green Superfood and BCCs as well as plenty of water every day. But I need to keep forcing myself to drink more because I keep forgetting. I don't think I even meet the recommended 8 glasses a day. Good pro-tips!

Re: A lot of people working on TASM but are you also working on your fitness?

Hey all, thought I'd post my Spidey here instead of starting my own thread, since this thread was one of my main inspirations.

First though, I just want to say thanks to everyone who's contributed to this thread. It's a great feeling knowing that there are other people out there who wouldn't give me a funny look when I say "I go to the gym so I can look like Spider-Man." Thanks everyone!

Anyways, I ended up buying a cheap zentai suit online. I made a few modifications to it, mainly the mask. You can read about it my thread here. I know it's not much, but I'm really really happy with how it turned out, especially in terms of my fitness. I'm back to being able to run a 5K without needing to walk! Plus, my muscles are starting to bulk up, too. Hope you enjoy!

Re: A lot of people working on TASM but are you also working on your fitness?

Something that some of you may want to try is ADF, or Alternate Day Fasting. In its most extreme, it's exactly what you think, you eat one day, the next you don't ~ Now that was way too extreme for me, so I do what is popularly known as 5-2. On Monday, Wednesday Thursday Saturday and Sunday I eat normally. Tuesday and Friday are my "fasting" days, you're supposed to keep it under 900 calories for the day. It isn't as hard as it sounds, I eat a salad for lunch and munch on something small for dinner. What makes it "easy" for me is knowing that tomorrow, I can eat normally again. What makes diets so killer is that you're basically constantly hungry or starving yourself all the time. What makes the diet work is that surprisingly, the next day when I wake up, I'm not super hungry like I thought I would be, and eating my regular meals resulted in losing 10 lb's so far and supposedly your sugar levels and other health markers improve alot.

The science behind the diet is that it is a throwback to how we ate in ancient times, when we actually had to hunt our food. Our bodies are not made for 3 meals a day, every day. What happens when we don't eat for a day is that the body begins to repair and to prepare for the next day, getting us ready to peak perform so that we can catch something to eat ~ Now if you fast for more than a day, your body begins to conserve and store energy for the "famine" that you are enduring. So it's important to eat normally the other days so your body doesn't go into the famine state. There's also other health benefits related to caloric restriction including living longer. Here's a link to a BBC article on it:

BBC News - The power of intermittent fasting

Like I said, I made no change in my eating habits on my normal days, but over the week, I am eating way less calories and I lost 10 easy pounds. I already exercise twice a week, but have 15 stubborn pounds that wouldn't leave until now.

Anyways, I didn't make this diet up, research it, it's not for everyone. But I found it easier than any other type of diet, because I could tough it for 1 day without much worry knowing that I could eat normally the next day. I work in a restaurant so losing 10 lb's in that environment is not easy. Works for me :)

I'm happy to see this thread. I'm in the research phase of a costume from Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future and I need to thin up again to not look basically like one of the fat Cylons I've seen running around and needed suggestions. Thanks!

Respect. Keep at it, no matter where the motivation comes from, it's always good seeing someone making changes like that, taking control back. Good job!
