Hello RPF, I'm currently in the process of creating my first Star Wars OC, and as such have come across numerous subjects in the universe, I haven't looked into before. One of which is Taozin and as a product thereof, Taozin Amulets.
Taozin Amulets are used to disguise the wearer from force wielders, making the wearer invisible in the force, so to speak. We have examples of these being used in canon and legends sources, and they're mentioned in several places, but as far as I know, we haven't seen a visual representation of such an amulet. We have a couple of visuals of the Taozin itself, as well as some descriptions of their general appearance.
So I want to make one. But where to start?
I looked at the sources a bit more, and it seems the specific part of a Taozin that needs to be included in the amulet, is a skin nodule. So off I went, googling skin nodules (not a recommended picture search by the way). Nodules are hard lumps that can form in different depths under the skin.
So what I want to do is:
Create some kind og hard lump, maybe .8"*.8" or so, to be the actual nodule. I figure this piece should be a sort of semi translucent burgundy og maybe purple. What material though, and how to go about it? Suggestions are welcome.
Second aspect of the build is the clear translucent skin. Should be somewhat soft to the touch I reckon, maybe rubber? I'm thinking this should be about 2"*2" This ofc. can be cast in a silicone mold, but how to go about embedding the nodule in the skin? I'm not sure which way would work best.
Do I keep the mold seperate, fill up the one side a bit, place the nodule, let cure, connect the molds, and then fill the void? I should have a contact able to help me in the creation of a silicone mold.
The method of production doesn't have to be suited for big quantities, but I would like it to be somewhat easily repeatable, incase it turns out well enough that someone else might want one. I'm thinking I'll just be making these nodules, and then people will be able to fashion an amulet that suits their style.
Very open to help and suggestions, I've never made anything like this before, but this project seems of a good and manageable magnitude for a first foray into casting!
