thanks

Looks like an old WWII era leather R.A.F. Flying helmet and goggles. Also looks like she has USAAF (United States Army Air Forces) bomber wings pinned on the forehead. These wings were worn on the uniform, above the chest pocket. It appears she has a bunch of machined fittings secured to the leather helmet. Also looks like she has a simple particle/dust mask painted gray, but I can't be sure from the images. Got any more pics?

I have the art of Tank Girl book, have you already seen this? If not, let me know. I can get some scans from it.

I loved this movie and I haven't seen it in years. I still have the classic poster on my wall.

Just a trivial side note, the tank used in the movie resides at the Jacques Littlefield tank musuem, http://www.milvehtechfound.com/, located in the San Francisco bay area.

There were a few original costume pieces on Ebay maybe 2 years ago, someone must have kept a few pictures.

Also check out one of the jewlery designers, she passed away not too long ago.

Certainly not to threadjack, but has anyone out there ever tried to construct a Ripper costume?
Was an inevitable question here, ya know :lol

I did some research and deconstruction of the costume many years ago, but abandoned the idea. I figured out how to do most of it. the hardest part was the prosthetics / appliances. I was going to cheat and do the Ice Tea character since he had a bandana that would hide a good part of the head.

Andy 2 cool, I'll dig up that book and try to get some scans.

I just finished making most of 3 full Tank Girl outfits for my daughter to wear to Chiller Con (she's working the event), I still need to finish the green vest from the end battle scene. We are going down to Tankland in SoCal to do a photo shoot with a tank from the movie with some other props too. The creator/builder of the props was so excited when my daughter contacted him about generic tanks they could pose with...he'd worked on the movie and welcomed us down. My younger daughter does screen printing, so she made the "55" shirt for her sis to be Jet Girl, I made the jacket, her friends' mom sculpted the little 'jets' that are pinned on it. I even had to make the 'flag patch', since I couldn't find one ready made that was the right size. For my own little 'Tank Girl', my younger daughter shaved her head, bleached what was left, and will have the 'guard duty' outfit, with the black jumper, panti girdle, black holey tights, army boots, candy necklace, red bra, black bowler hat with blond braids. We still need to make the black armband with red reflector. She even has a toy kangaroo that had BOODA emboidered on the pouch, I made the "D" look like a "G" for her 'boyfriend' Ripper Booga. She also has the jacket that I pieced together with a jacket front, vest back, pants for part of the back, pants legs made into sleeves, 3 different shirts sleeves that are layered over the bottom sleeve that ends with sock top cuffs. She made the "40 Watt" tee thanks to graphics from someone she 'met' on this site (THANK YOU!), and we went more with the comic book version of the 'sports pants' look, my daughter hand panted lines on a pair of 'baseball pants'. She'll wear a modified version of the hat Lori wore in that scene (it's a bandana w/ straps and a dirty towel top to it), we just got the bandana and faded it a bit. My daughter will just tie it around her head for the con, but I want to fix it up before Nov. 6th and the photo shoot. It needs some dirty blond dreads added to it too, with pieces of what look like leather or canvas attached. We aren't going to do the dirt towel look, since I appears that they were trying to make it look like her spikey hair showing. The one outfit which will be the showcase is the final battle one. She wears some funky 'chaps' made from green pants, with strips of different color & size rectangles of nylon...they lace in the front and back, they are worn over red 'bedazzled' cut off shorts, with black tights and the army boots. She wears Booga's bullseye tee with the sleeves held up with safety pins. Then, the vest is worn over it, with flower patches, an American flag peace sign patch on the back, and two skull patches. I have the base cut out, but I need to finish the layers that have slits where different straps and buckles slide through. *whew* We DID get the helmet finished! She bought a 'helmet liner' at a swap meet, which is much lighter weight than the full helmet. We covered it in yellow 'muppet fur', then I used tangerine & tan dye and just painted it on with a spong paint brush. It looks matted and very screen accurate. I added straps, and realized I made one side too long, so we need to fix that. It also has two pieces of hair extensions sewn in, streaks of platinum blond and neon green! It is going to look great when it all comes together. We still need to 'bedazzle' a dog collar (or find a black one with blue rhinestones). There are so many extras, props and fun stuff. For example, when Rebecca (Tank Girl) is supposed to be on guard duty, she's seen painting her nails blue with a normal sized paint brush with a yellow handle...so we got a brush, painted the handle yellow and painted the bristles w/ the blue nail polish. She's also bored, so she has her stuffed kangaroo toy look down into the pocket of her jumper for her Elvis Pez...unfortunately, Pez just made an Elvis collector pack in '07, and I can't find one that I want to pay for! lol. We are thinking of trying to put another doll head on it and make it look like Elvis! She also takes some kiddy safety scissors to her stockings when she thinks her boyfriend Richard has come for his 'birthday present'. Oh, yeah, my other daughter's boyfriend has made Richard's 'spiderweb' shirt too. *which I made years ago for my son to wear! In fact, we made two of them, and the Tank Girl daughter has it and wore it to her theater class the other day! We are a cosplay family!
I do want to make a Ripper costume...and am thinking about picking up some after Halloween latex mask that I can adapt. They sell those hand too. The tail may be problematic...but I think I can figure the ears, nose and even the feet (you need an oversized "keds" sneaker and a small child's size, and cut them, glue togehter and make a sole to hold them together! voila! Ripper Feet!! lol. I will make sure my daughte posts pix when we get done. She's also screen printed some other shirts that were made for, but only used in promo shots during filming...I think I have one of her that shows her hair...I will try to post.

Hope it shows up, she just posted of Facebook that the airport 'randomly' picked her for the 'show and tell'...I guess they got a show. She's not used to the cold (we live in California, and she was bundled up for cold NJ)...when she took her hat off and her Tank Girl hair was revealed, well, I just wish I could have been there! heh.
