I'm 6'4" 185LBS and keep thinking of the possibility of getting a Spider-man costume. Would a 6'4 Spider-man be ridiculous?

Originaly a friend of mine who has been Hugh Jackmans photo double and stand in was cast as "Spiderman" before the role of Peter Parker was cast. The idea was to have Spidey larger than life and Peter an average Joe. If that had stayed true, Spidey would have been about 6'3" in costume and about 225/230 lean pounds.

After spending years attending about 10 different comic convention each year I have seen many-a-costume and I must say that regardless of the quality of the costume it is the persons body that makes or breaks it. You have to be like the person you want to dress up as. Not that you have to be the perfect double, but the body type has to be similar. I am not a small man, 6'2" 235 lbs, I can't be spidey too tall, too heavy - I love spidey but I am not built for it. I make an alright Kingon (why they are so popular with fat geeks I think) but no one in Starfleet is fat, and no one but Jabba in Star Wars - Well maybe Dex in the new movies - but nobody cool to dress up as.
Although in your case in my be only a hight issues, I have seen a few really tall spideys and the did look a bit silly, not to say they are the worst. The worst are "extra large" guy & girls trying to squeeze into a spidey, superman, stormtrooper, etc costume. I think nothing looks as bad (that is why I don't slap on spandex and walk around the show). So you will have a one up on them.
In the end it is just what makes you happy - if you are OK with it, and with the way others might judge it, then "spidey-up" and have some fun. If you are worried about not looking "right" (and you seem to be) then don't do it cause you will not look like spidey. Be thankful you are just too tall (not too tall, and to fat like me

As for the spidey costume.
Make it, if your friends think you look good in it, wear it to cons
If your friends don't think you look good in it wear it to kids birthday parties. or just as some kick ass PJ's
