My entry this year is M'aiq the Liar, a khajiit from the game Skyrim. He's been my favorite khajiit throughout the series - he's been in every Elder Scrolls game since Morrowind. He's an NPC that runs around the world and if you stop him to talk to him he'll tell you random quips, facts, and thoughts which often break the 4th wall. He has different looks in each game but I chose his look from Skyrim because I like it the best.
This is my second costume. I have a strong art background and I'm a professional 3D game artist but prior to starting my cosplay hobby I hadn't worked with these types of materials before. This project was my first time sewing and making cloth patterns and my first time working with fur. I've learned so much!

Entry photo and proof photo:

The mask is 3D printed and has a moving jaw. It took me a while to get my hands on his in game model which I wanted to use as a starting point for my high poly model. The game doesn't store characters in individual files, but rather puts pieces together into a composite. But I finally managed it and was able to use the body as really helpful reference, and the face to help guide my modeling. His model is super low poly and unusable on its own, but I took the normal map (makes the model look more 3d than it really is), converted it to a displacement map, and added that to the low poly to help give it more dimension. I then meticulously edited the shape of it to make it more realistic, make it ready to be printed, and make it fit my face and work as a mask. I used my own printer.
The tail has an articulated sintra skeleton to help it keep its shape vertically but move freely horizontally. The skeleton is sandwiched between two carved pieces of upholstery foam. It's attached to my body with a belt and a butt plate to keep it stable.
The mask and tail are covered with fur which I painted with watered down acrylics.
The robe, hood, and shawl thing were hand stitched and patterned from scratch. This part took the longest by far.
The boots were an old pair of black boots I had which I covered with a brown pleather and detailed with leather lacing and folded pieces of pleather.
More pictures!
