Symmetrical ANH Stormtrooper Helmet for Pepakura

I know I don't know much about this awesome project, just what I've read, but in the 11a, a lot of it overlaps a couple of pages. Is this correct or am I supposed to be able to cut up the big pieces, like the dome, somehow inside the viewer/designer?

Thanks for any help getting this printed out. It looks awesome and thanks for your hard work!

The 11a is an improved file based on my build experiences, but spacecowboy has not enough time to rearrange this in pepakura designer to fit on printpages, so you will have to do this yourself on this version.

I haven't had time to arrange the parts on the unfolded model, so you'll have to rearrange the pieces in Pepakura Designer before printing to make sure they fit right on the pages.

Thanks for that.

I just need to know how to do that with the big pieces, like the dome piece that spans 4 pages or so. Is there a way to chop up that piece and arrange it?

All the pep files I've printed already have the big pieces chopped up. Rearranging the smaller pieces is no problem, I'm just confused what to do with the big ones. I haven't messed with the software, besides printing, very much.

Thanks!

Hi JSmails,

You need to open the PDO file in Pepakura Designer (available for free, you just can't "save" files in the free version).

Use the edit buttons, which are the second row of buttons at the top of the screen.

EDIT/MOVE: the first button on the left looks like an arrow in the box, use this to select and move the pieces.

ROTATE: the second button shows 3 circles connected by lines, use this to rotate the pieces. First select a point on the object (one of the little circles) then a cross-hair will appear. Then click on the page and rotate the object around the cross-hair.

DIVIDE / CONNECT FACES: the third button looks like a zipper, use this to separate or connect objects (faces). Click inside the object to separate it, or on the edge to connect it with an adjoining piece. You'll need to divide the bigger pieces (like the dome) to fit them on the page.

The dashed lines in the right-side window show how the pieces fit on the paper when printed. Go to Settings > Print and Paper Settings to change the paper format / size.

Hope this helps!

SpaceCowboy your helmet is the best :love. The original was excellent and with the improvements is even better.

Thanks.

Thanks a lot Gimpee, I appreciate that! When I get some free time I'd like still to improve on it more.

Hi all,

A revised version is available for the Symmetrical ANH Trooper helmet (v. 11-c).
I'll always put the latest version at [removed], so there'll be no mix-up of people using old files. The file is available as a Pepakura PDO file and also a PDF here: [removed]

Please NOTE that I found an ERROR on the right cheek-tube of file version 11-a... one vertix got moved out of place and I never noticed it, so it makes a "lump" on the tube.
For those already building v.11-a, fix for the CHEEK TUBE is available at [removed]

NOTE: the freepages URL has been removed from this post, as it no longer functions.

UPDATE: the PDO file is now available at: http://www.bubtown.com/spacecowboy/

I get a lot of similar questions, so I've created this FAQ:

Q: Where can I download the Pepakura Stormtrooper helmet?
A: You can download the current helmet at:
[removed]
and
http://www.bubtown.com/spacecowboy/

Q: Where will you post any updates or fixes?
A: Updates/fixes and any new models (like the upcoming Tie Pilot) will be posted at
http://www.bubtown.com/spacecowboy/

Q: Do you have models of the Stormtrooper Armor?
A: No, but someone else has built it. You can download a Stormtrooper armor file at this site:
http://vk.com/doc193040216_163915173...bb49a7217e1962
Other great pepakura Star Wars props (including the above armor) can be found at the below page, but you have to scroll through the page to find them:
Pepakura Helmets - [Iron Man Project ]

Q: Why aren’t their tabs for connecting the main parts, like for connecting the dome to the faceplate?
A: That is just the way Pepakura created the print outs. When the 3D model was converted to PDO, Pepakura separated the dome, back, and other parts automatically. You can just cut some of your own tabs from paper to glue the parts together.
If you want to see how all the parts fit together, just open the file in the Pepakura Viewer. You can see the model in the left window (use the right-mouse button to rotate the model), and the print-out sheets are visible in the right window.
If you click on any part of the model it shows you the corresponding part in the print-outs. Likewise, if you click on any part in the print-outs, it shows you its corresponding placement on the model. By checking where the parts go you can ensure you are gluing the right pieces together.

Q: How do you change the scale of the model in Pepakura?
A: Open the file in Pepakura Designer and go to
2D Menu > Change Scale > Scale Factor
You can change the model height, width, depth (in cm) or scale (%).
The current helmet scale is 30.8 x 29.9 x 29.7 CM or 0.717551 scale.
Please note that if you change the scale, you may need to use the select/move tool to rearrange the pieces on the printout page!

Hey Space, I'm going to try to assemble the last revision of the helmet this weekend!

I let you know if things are going smooth as i plan!

Thank you very much for the PDO.

Hi SpaceCowboy, could you possibly provide another mirror for the PDO downloads? I think all of the current links are down :(
Thanks!

The links have viruses and have been removed by a mod. Please reupload :)

I am also very interested in getting a copy of the file if possible. Been looking around a little bit with no luck. Hoping to get a jump start on my first one of these this weekend. :) Excellent work by the way!
