... made replacement plastic folding stocks for the Kenner stormtrooper blaster?

I loved my old trooper blaster and its folding stock, and was totally bummed out when the newer blasters didn't come with them. Now for all those people who like modding the toy blasters to make them more like usable costume props, or for people who collect the toys but have lost the stock or gotten incomplete blasters, is there anyone making replacement stocks? Anyone ever done a cast off the original Kenner stock to make a new one?

I suppose it would be good to ask two questions:
1) would anyone here want such a thing?
2) would anyone here be willing to make such a thing, if there was enough demand?

A buddy of mine loaned me his vintage Kenner blaster just so I could make him a spare front stock part. I think he still might have the mold.

ive got a resin copy of the original folding stock...

a guy had a bucket of em, i wish i woulda got his contact info, i know some people that know him, ill see if i can get back in contact with him...

As far as I know there wasn't ever a scene that showed the stock open.

Yet, many people are obsessed with making their inoperative stock work.

What is the point?

Well... we never see the buttons on a graflex being used, but it's still pretty lame when the buttons don't work.

When I first hand an Anakin ROTS FX to a person not familiar with them they instinctivly try the "buttons" first and are confused. Same thing for a E-11, things that we know should work should. The trigger should be able to be pulled, the magazine come out, the stock unfold, etc...

Make any sense?

umm... the buttons werent what was supposed to be the activation...

if the people you handed the anakin FX to rubbed there thumb up the gold strip, you coulda been HEY you really know your star wars. but alas, for some reason MR decided that making the piece that would be the clamp lock on a graflex flash be the rickety little switch.

in the future hand them a vader ep 5 to avoid any confusion. :p

and the main reason for most to get a stock is because of the way that it makes the blaster look, it just doesnt look right without it, most dont care if it folds out, but some do... either way the thing is it looks ALOT better the way they used to make it in the late 90's early 80's (after all its from the same molds)

and there is a shot in ANH with a stock half unfolded... why, its in the pic on the original packaging... :confused

Hi

i have one of the originnal folding stocks and the abilty to mold it.
How many people interested and how much would they want to pay ?

By the "buttons" I meant the copper ones near the emitter. No one I've ever shown it even has a clue that the clamp activation is what is meant to turn it on. To them an obvious button should be a button.

You are right that the Vader ESB is a little easier to figure out... there is nothing else that screams push me other than the clamp. :lol

Another reason to like working stock is unlike stormies we want to be able to aim properly instead of Rambo style shooting from our hips or holding it up in the air. We all know how well stormies shoot. :p :D

I thnk that if you're looking for that degree of exactness, don't waste a lot of time and money on a Kenner toy that is so obviously incorrect. Buy a real Sterling and convert it, or build one from PVC and resin.

For probably less than $5 in parts, if you had to buy everything, (most people probably have plenty of scraps) you can do a hardware stock for the toys.

I just like things to work, it has a stock so it should work that is why I always make working stocks for my blasters. If you had an MP 40 and it had no stock it would look wrong same with a blaster, but each to their own as long as you are happy that is all you can want

It's A)expensive B) doesn't already come with electronics. The Kenner/Hasbro is close enough that a little work can make it A LOT BETTER and not break the bank. If you can find me a way to do both (look good, marginal function and electronics FX) for around $100-150 I'm all ears.

I'm upgrading mine a lot. Electronics... getting an amp, and a Luxeon to light up the barrel instead of the lame 5mm ones, maybe a solenoid for recoil.

Physically I'm going to sculpt the scope to look better, adding resin parts from tk560, making my own stock, and probably the most work I hacked off the barrel and redoing it from PVC.

So it's a trade off. It's not exact but it will look as good as any PVC blaster, but I won't have to futz trying to get electronics in it. I know I won't get a pull out magazine, but I keep mine loaded anyway. :p :lol

All I was saying, is that if you want accurate, with moving parts and everything, get a real Sterling.

If you want cheap, easy, and just-add-spraypaint, buy the toy.

If you want cheap, great looks, marginal function, and electronics (like you want), I would build one and add the electronics from the toy.

The toy itself is very inaccurate looking, even as a base.

I remember reading that some Stormtroopers were overheard saying how "wizard" it was that the stock unfolded on their E-11's.

:p
