Superman Returns Costume Continues...

This project is still moving along, but it's in fits and starts. I keep running into technical problems that frustrate me, and I end up walking away from it. Which is hard to do when you have an eight foot fiberglass mold sitting in your spare bedroom :)

I've written a few updates recently, and feel a new surge of enthusiasm coming on, so if you'd like to follow along, you can do so here:

Those boots look great! Those soles would be cool for shoes too!
Is this a suit you are planning on offering for sale as well?
Great work so far!

Amazing work! Every time I feel the need for jealousy I check out your blog! Can't wait to see it all come together!

Thanks! It's been a lot of fun, and I have learned a lot from the experience!

I don't plan on offering the suit for sale. Just doing it for my own entertainment and fun. I'm sorry to admit that I've been burned way too many times on the RPF and in this hobby to offer things for sale anymore :( It just turns out to be too much heartache. Between dealing with dead-beat buyers, recasters, and people who want something for nothing, it's just not worth it for me to offer stuff anymore.

SO instead, I focus on the fun of creating the stuff! I really enjoy making things, researching things, finding parts, and most of all, meeting people who share a passion for my interests and want to discuss them. So it's not like it's all a loss :)

Wow, you certainly are a dedicated man. I admire your dedication to seeing this through to completion.
The belt looks really nice, good smooth finish there.
Stick at it, you'll have a finished costume soon enough.

Dear Mr. Munson,

realy realy great compliments and it´s always breathtakeing for me to read your news and see all these womderfull pics from the items you made.
That belt is looking so damn wonderfull that I need to ask once again would there be no way to make this wonderfull items maybe also available for other real big Superman fans??? Please if there would be any way for you to rethink the possibility to make that happened that would be m biggest dream to get something that is realy accurate.

Greetings Oliver

Oliver! Thanks again for all the kind words, and I'm usually a total sucker for that type of stuff. But I am going to hold of on offering these things. Like I said before, I've just been burned too many times. Often not by the person I sold it to, but someone else down the ownership line. Just too much heartbreak for something that I put so much time and energy into.

In other news, I have had yet another breakthrough just this afternoon. I found a pigment that is designed to add opacity to urethane, which is something I have been struggling with lately regarding the chest emblem. So if this works out, I will be a happy camper. I ordered some just now. Full details on the blog, natch. :)

I tried to send him pics of my 3 year old dressed like Superman to persuade him. ;) Didn't work! I admire Matt's efforts and dedication and don't blame him..but if he ever changes his mind....
