Superman Crashed Ship..FOUND!!

Very cool. Waiting to be ID'd? Nobody at that place is a Superman fan? What else do they have hidden in there thought long lost?

What is so cool is the person who sent me this link was the passenger in the ship.

MAN I wish I could see it in person!

They had a couple of original trooper costumes at MOMI too.
Still wonder what happened to those.

This has been on display at the museum for quite a long time (like a couple of years) and it's always been identified correctly. I believe it's on loan to them so was never sitting around unidentified.

Yes, I took the pics of the ship and sent them to Martin after visiting the London Film Museum last week.
Obviously - the ship HAS been identified now and is out on display. I think Martin's source was talking about the time when the ship was unidentified and just sitting in storage (which according to what Omp-UK says, must have been more than 2 years ago). Since he told them what it was, they must have decided to put it out on display.

Cool to see it but I was amazed that it's just out in the open without anything preventing people from touching it or scratching the surface!

Chris

Thank you Chris for taking the pics! I am very jealous you got to see it in person. At least now I don't have to break into the barn or dig in the field..just in case. ;)

Thanks!!!! Love the pics!

As the guy who (re-)discovered this is internet-shy and wishes to stay that way I communicate with him through snail mail like I have the last ten years or so. Suffice to say he was working at Pinewood during the shooting of Superman II and spent time on-set. He wasn't clear how long ago he visited the LFM but it was on a totally unrelated matter (negotiation to exhibit his vast Dr. Who collection) when the staff asked him if there was anything he could identify for them from their inventory yet to be exhibited. He was also astounded they had 'no clue' what this 'asteroid' was nor what production it came from until he pointed it out. They were so grateful they even gave him a shard from the interior. If it was inherited from MOMI it makes perfect sense as I believe much of their inventory ended up there. My sincere thanks to Chris for getting these shots as the LFM were less than forthcoming with my enquiries and Hankey - with all you've contributed with your discovery I'm elated this adds to the find....!!!
