Does anyone know how much of the original barrel should be visible while looking down the flash hider?

This image gives you an idea. The barrel blocks some of the holes in the flash hider

Does anyone remember what position the top trigger assembly should be in for reassemble? I'm having an issue with it and the pin keeping the two pieces together will hardly stay together.

Also, I'm not concerned with it being a functioning airsoft gun but I would like to add a red led down the barrel. I was thinking of using the magazine as a battery holder but I'm hitting a road block on using the trigger as a momentary switch.

I found an easy way to mark the barrel for cutting. I found the lowest hole in the flash hider and spun the barrel around with a pencil in it. Then I just measured about 1/4" down and made my mark. I made two marks and then wrapped tape around the barrel, ensuring I have a straight and level line

Looks to be about right in that picture there , but when you put the whole upper togheter with the mechanism and slide it on you need to wiggle it a bit , maybe even hold it upside down to make the hinged rear part of the trigger fall into the slot in the mechanism .
there is a video of the assembly on youtube that helped me out a bit , since i didnt pay that much attention when pulling it apart

Thanks, I'll give that a try!

First off I would like to state that I'm approaching this build with real world detail. I have seen multiple reference photos and they are all different! Now I understand there were several different blasters made (hero/stunt/etc) so I think this gives people the freedom to go in different directions and still have a canon blaster. Like I said, my approach isn't so much screen accurate finish as it is a finish you would expect to see if it were real.

While I'm waiting for my Aluminum Black to come in, I decided to blue the scope mount and finish the flash hider. I was going to blue the grill but it has too many tiny fins to clean. The bluing went well on the scope mount and rings! I know I could AB the flash hider since its aluminum but I didn't want it to match the rest of the blaster. I wanted it to look more steel or at least look like a different metal.

Flash hider. It looks more gun metal than what the pictures show. I may hit it with some steel wool once I see how it looks mounted.

How are you at 2D design? If you want to help me out with the design I will CNC cut one for you. :)

Thanks! So far I have everything finished and now I just have to get it together. The last piece will be the square cover because I'm not 100% positive I trust my steady hand with a dremel.

Man, I wish I did! What do you think about finding someone that can do 2D design and doing a run of these in the junkyard? I think people would for sure but these.

very nice work with the bluing! how do u apply the blue? paint brush? i have been playing around with aluminum black, and still haven't gotten the hang of it... then again I'm using Q tips to apply the aluminum black because thats what i saw in a youtube video. but that video was to repair scratches, i want to learn how to make it look it you did

I was going to do a run but wanted to get through the testing part of it. I was going to try and design it myself, Im okay with 2D, but 3D i can only do basic shapes. Also trying to figure a way out to make a "plug" for where we remove the selector. I have a couple pounds of pewter and some silicone just need to build it. Not enough hours in the day! I think being able to offer both as a set would be nice.

Danny, have you tried a plastic bag?

I used an old t shirt to wipe it on and turned out pretty good. I initially tried to put the smaller pieces in a plastic bag with some AB but it started off gassing and getting really hot! That had never happens to me before

special thanks! wow! so avoid plastic bags then! that could have been dangerous!

no plastic bag, only paint brushes, i really only found tutorials on youtube about fixes scratches on guns and iPhones :(

Getting ready to secure the mount and used a small washer as you can see below that was just enough to level the mount! Also just showing off the mystery knob because I liked the way it came out

The AB did a great job with the finish. I'm going to wait to weather it until I have all of the pieces together
