Suggestion for type of brush?

I am picking up my GH helmet in a few minutes. I am going to be hand painting the gun metal in tonight. I am wondering if you guys could give me a suggestion or two on a type of brush to buy which will be best suited for this job?

I don't know much about different types of brushes, hence the reason for starting this thread. :)

Air-brush (If you are experienced to use one)

You will get the best coat and even coverage using an airbrush. (IMO)

I have a feeling he is trying to recreate the brushed-on look of the original.

If that's the case, you'll probably want to use a brush that is 1/2 as wide as the area you're going to be painting. Best case scenario would be to get a brush that is no wider than the most narrow part you are going to be painting, this way, you won't have to worry about trying to get into the smaller areas.

As for the type, your standard hardware store store brush should be fine. No need to waste the extra money on an artist's sable or camel hair brush.

That is absolutely correct sir. :)

I will take that suggestion and pick up a brush tonight. The parts I am painting range in width from probably 7 or 8 inches down to less than an inch. Should I pick up a couple of different brushes?

edit: I am also using automotive paint for this job. Does that make a difference?

Chris, I just painted the one that I'm selling in the JY/ebay last night. Took me about half an hour. That includes both tones. No masking off. No kidding.
I used 2 brushes, one about 2" wide and one about 1/4" wide.
Any brush will do. I used old cheapie synthetic brushes as I just tossed them when I was done.
It was really fun to do. Good luck. I love to see other people wanting prop accuracy down to the crappy paint job. Always ends up looking better in the end even if it feels quite awkward when doing it.
