Well, the Firefly I made from Futch's gorgeous kit now belongs to the Kow Yokoyama Collection, lol! So I'm glad I took that impromptu photo shoot before we left for WF! This is a recreation of a scratch build studio model from 1982.

I went crazy and added lights:

I had a base lasercut too:

And here you can see how off I was compared to the real deal - it's MUCH more "grey" than you think. Ah well, I'll get it right on the one for me, lol!

Here's the original:

That awesome, I may never get around to building MaK stuff but i sure like looking at it..........looks like the "blue" color for the first one matches the magazine cover really well great job...

LOl - this was the FIRST Firefly!

Yeah, the color is hard to nail - take a pic of the two side by side with a flash? They look the same. It's weird. Mine is brighter... but hey, the original has also been kicking around for 25 years, so who knows how it initially looked.

Okay, then I gotta move this to General Modeling; the "studio" in "Studio Scale" means there was a model photographed for TV or film that is being replicated.

But again, it looks great! :)

Oh, I thought "studio scale" meant replicating something that was an original scratch build, using original parts, shot in a studio. But if it needs to have been on TV or film to qualify, that's your decision.

But i think it's a lame distinction to make. Just my opinion.

Leave it out in harsh sunlight for a few weeks and I'm sure the blue will have faded a great deal. Nice, but have no clue what it is. :)

No one knows for sure, but Kow's Firefly was first, if that answers your question, heheh.
