I got my Apex parts kit today. So far it looks great. Not horribly mangled like predicted and all parts seem to be included. The rear assembly has enough reveiver tube left that I think if I get someone to straight cut it for me I can just weld it onto the new receiver. My neighbor has a welding set-up. I've yet to find out id its the right type to melt the welds. Here are a couple of picks. Need a Hengstler, someone said they had an extra one. please let me know. Will keep updating my progress. Can't figure out how to upload pics. Wil try to figure it out.

Main reciever tube should be 1.5 inch OD x 0.055 wall 1020 steel tube 18.625 inches long. Closest I've found locally is 1.5 OD x0.49 wall Chrome Molly Steel tube.
Ordered The Receiver Tube from Stenparts.com. Waiting on delivery. I picked up an M38A2 on E-bay. Still need to come up with a Hengstler.
Haven't tried yet, trying to get some feedback weather a Oxy,propane tourch will do the job.

Yes those kits will work, but you know you only get about 1 minute of burn time with those cheap over the counter oxygen tanks?
Depending on your kit and how it was brazed/soldered (they were not all created equal) you might be able to just get by with a MAPP torch, no oxygen needed...

MAPP looks just like a propane torch but it's different, it burns hotter...
And no you won't damage the parts if it doesn't work... At least no more then you will heating them up to take them off any other way, there is always the risk of slight warping due to the heat...

Bought a MAAP torch at Home Depot and I'm happy to report that it willl melt the solder on the Sterling. Having trouble getting the round piece out of the end of the receiver. May leave it, cut the receiver off clean and integrate it onto the new receiver. The sight, the sight guard and the little curved flash guard came off. In light of what I plan to do I should'nt have taken these off, but what can you do. Will keep you updated as I proceed.

I assume you mean the barrel end? You took the sight off right? The sights base keys into it the barrel plug end...
Also if you can get a second hand have someone else work it with a propane torch or another MAP torch as you work it with around with the MAP, that way you can keep better heat distribution on areas you are away from, since the larger part(s) will sink a lot of heat...
Alright, It took some doing but I got all the welded pieces off with the MAAP torch. I have decided to to weld the original front and the back portion of the receiver tube to the replacement reciever. Got them off pretty straight with a hack saw. Dunno about Exoray, but I don't facebook. If you post it over there it may be harder for us help you work out kinks & give pointers... much less we're more understanding regarding pictures of building up a sterling..... if you've got frienemies on FB, posting even a legit deactivated smg build on there may bring extra scrutiny your not looking for.
