Starting small

Hi all! I'm Ed and I'm starting a part Judge build (Helmet and belt kit)
Had a crack at the door breaching mine over the past couple of days, started with a 50mm resin blank but I wasn't happy with the results so I tried with nylon rod on my wood lathe

Still not happy with the outcome as its about 3mm to small, but its a start

Still needs painting, I used some brass filler in the resin to help see the lines when I'm cutting and sanding.
This is an evolving prop and I'm only on v2 I'm gonna look around for some washers/discs of the right size to tidy up the top/trigger section

I got a 45mm wood ball to turn into the flashbang but I was sent a 50mm one so it'll have to wait till next weekend.
Also got some leather on the way to have a go at the pouches

Good start...keep going.......Is the helmet a pep build or some other plan you're using??

Its a pep build but I missed the eye section brace out hence the mass of bondo around the right cheek to rectify the flaring

Made a little progress on the lid today

Need to even up a lot of it especially the side panels as you can just make out from the rear shot
Masked up next to the snotty lid I got this week.

I had intended on doing the flash bang today but I've been sent the wrong size wooden balls again

Just roughed out the door breaching mine pouch with some 4mm leather

Had a clean up of the front tab and did a 2.0 on the rear


Rivets aren't hammered all the way home yet, belt loop needs cutting and leather thinning for the press stud fitting .... oh yeh staining it too

Nice work with the helmet....just watch those slight red corner curves, don't think they are that tight......I'm being super critical ......It looks great so far and awesome work all round...keep going. That helmet was almost the death of me building it off a Pep file.........but it turned out cool, sold well and your's looks mighty fine...KEEP BUILDING!!

Cast some resin blanks yesterday and had a go at another door mine (blank was too short so I've prepped another) the size is getting better but there's still a way to go

Lied! Didn't do V4 today, my balls arrived so I had a play with them instead.



IDM flash bang on left (very nice, gonna put a light in this one) mine in the middle, turned the groove and button then used a knife for the light hole.
It needs a small bit of filling on the bottom where it was sat in the lathe and fill the hole in the top then I'll take a mould from it

Life took over so its taken till now to get moving on this again
I messed up my moulds this week so I need to re do them, got some rubbish pulls of my flash bang but there better than nothing and with the slight bit of shrinkage in the resin they fit in the pouch sooooo much better.
Pouch still needs slit in base cutting, re stitching and a new bigger top section along with a belt loop adding.

Been sat in an office at work waiting for an alarm to go off with nothing to do for 5 hours a day,so I started playing with foam board
Heavily based on the sec 2 Brit cit badge but in no way does there's any justice (really love that set)

Decided to come at some of this from a different angle, 3D printer should be here in the next few days so stand buy for some really ugly prints of dredd stuff
