Starting a Chewbacca bowcaster

Vinyl dye might work, but as lonepigeon said, ink or standard dyes probably wont work. Your best bet would be latex based paint brushed on in several thin layers. I painted a vinyl facehugger with Grenadier paints (made by same factory that does the Games Workshop paints), and after 15 years of flexing the tail and fingers, the paint is still sticking and flexing with the vinyl.

I may have a spare bottle or two of the black Grenadier paint if you wanna give it a shot, but any latex based acrylics should work.

Any updates on how this babies going.... i've knocked one out in a couple of weeks mostly from scrap around my workshop but am really interested on how other members tackled some of the problems on this build..

Heres what i made following your idea on scratch carving the stock.

Cheers for the votes of confidence.... The bow is made from plastic trim from around double glazed windows heated up and bent to shape in a pre cut wooden former thats clamped together and then backed with a couple of coats of fibre glass for strength, which still wasn't sturdy enough so i added a threaded bar as the bow string for extra stability.

Built mostly from scrap, in a small time frame? You sir were undoubtedly part of the A-Team. lol

Great work! :thumbsup

Not mine. Midian built that one. Mine is still in the works. I have been putting my time into house renovations instead of props the last few months.
I need to finish the bowcaster and my Chewie costume.

My Home Theater is my priority right now:love
