Stark Monaco race suit, *NOW UPDATED WITH PANTS*

Re: *UPDATED* Tony Stark Monaco Racing jacket!

They said $450 for the suitcase. Aluminum exterior, leather under the lid & molded foam in the lower half.

But as far as the jacket, I wouldn't be surprised to see a very small run done shortly, in the junkyard. :)

Re: *UPDATED* Tony Stark Monaco Racing jacket!

Great work on your jacket, I have to agree that yours looks better than the licensed version, much truer to the actual jacket. Their jacket would look much better if they had gone with the rubberized black trim and lettering like your jacket, it would make the base fabric less of an issue for me.

Re: *UPDATED* Tony Stark Monaco Racing jacket!

This came out really amazing. Nice work Toby.

Re: *UPDATED* Tony Stark Monaco Racing jacket!

I now have the finalized version of my jacket completed. With both reference pics of the MR jacket, and the fact that I had more than just 2 days to finish this one, I couldn't be happier.

In addition, the junkyard thread is now ready for orders.

Now it's onto the pants!

Re: *UPDATED* Tony Stark Monaco Racing jacket!

Nice work as usual TM!

You said MR Replica as in Master Replica? Are they back in business under "new management?" :confused

Re: *UPDATED* Tony Stark Monaco Racing jacket!

Yep, MR is Museum Replicas.
Master Replicas is pretty much gone, although many of their former employees now work for efx.

Toby,
Great work as always.
But...
(always a but)
It seems that the blue is too bright, is it just the lighting/exposure?
Here's a full shot of one of the stunt doubles in the suit

I've got the costume card, and if that's to be believed at all, my shade of royal blue is nearly exact. The main thing with the screen worn stuff is that it's a collection of little blue & black squares. So overall, it'll have a darker shade just because of the addition of the black spots.
But then I set out to make this, it was not my intention to get the exact same kevlar fabrics & all. Heck the suit isn't even leather, I just chose to make mine that way because I could, and I plan to wear it as an everyday jacket.
Even the MR jacket isn't made with the actual stuff because I think it was a cost issue, and the fact that they felt people didn't need to walk around in a flame retardant jacket. While theirs has little black areas throughout, their choice of blue is way too shiny.

I got some cool picts today that I'll post later.

That's an excellent recreation.

Back when I was racing, a nomex firesuit (triple layer pants, double layer top) custom designed was around $2,000. That was over a decade ago though, so I have no idea if costs have gone up or down on them :)
