Okay, that would have been interesting, as a concept, where typically it never runs in the family, but it does for him. But only that. Not what actually happened. But I don’t consider the whole “prophecy/chosen one” thing a part of the OT, just as I feel it’s an incredible disservice to those films to consider them “Anakin’s arc”, rather than Luke’s story that some subpar prequels got tacked on to 20 years later.

Personally, I stick to head canon for the prequel era, picking and choosing the story elements I want to inform the rest of the history of the slice of the GFFA we know and love, but reading that I just realized that if you leave those movies out, I'm pretty sure the problem of the whole "Chosen One" prophecy is solved. I'll have to take some time to think about it, but with no further mention of it post Episode III, Anakin Skywalker makes a heroic sacrifice to save his son that isn't bound to or have anything to do with some foretold destiny.

I'm just so happy to have 4k77 and 4k83 and I can't wait for 4k80!! That's the only Star Wars for me.

I have the Harmy Despecialized trilogy, but I really need to work on getting these versions. They're scanned at 4k, but available in Blu-Ray format, right?

Guys maybe someone here can help me.. this drives me nuts. So I have a sound bar for my tv and Blu-ray player...

It drives me nuts that normal everyday TV I can watch at 18 on my sound bar, everything is perfect.

When I watch Blu-ray’s I have to have it at 32 in order to hear people talk at the same volume I hear them on every day tv at 18

Problem is. Laser blasts explosions are loud as hell at 32.. and I’m constantly grabbing bf for the remote to lower the volume down... drives me nuts

Is there a setting i can change to make it like I’m watching normal tv?

Your Blu-ray player might be set to 5.1 output. Since you have a sound bar, try setting it to normal Stereo (2.0) and see if that helps.

If that doesn't work, try adjusting the "Dynamic Range Control" also under sound settings.

Thank you!! Going to try this right now!

I noticed that some movies are mixed like that. I rewatched Aliens last week as a part of a steelbook BR set and the audio mix was terrible. Dialogue was barely audible, but any action sound effects were blowing up the roof. Setting it to DTS (I have no surround system) helps a bit but I think it ultimately comes down to how the soundtrack is mixed.

I’ve tried everything on my Blu-ray player.. I think it’s the Blu-ray itself..

Netflix and Disney plus does the same thing, but I stream that through a roku I think.. some black usb stick I stick inside my tv,’t brother set it up for me

I don’t have the patience for this stuff lol

Yeah unfortunately the mix on the Blu-ray itself is usually the culprit.

One last thing you could try is to see if your TV has some kind of dynamic range control setting. It depends on how your system is setup though. If your Blu-ray player outputs to your TV first, which then means your TV outputs to your sound bar, it could help in adjusting the sound.

That’s why I liked TLJ. RJ understood some of the core elements and themes of Star Wars that had fallen by the wayside due to the prequels, like all of a sudden, you can only be a Jedi if you’ve got magic blood, rather than it being a matter of spirituality and faith/belief. Of course, he had some strange execution of things, and also clearly wanted to “subvert expectations” over story some of the time. I totally understand why some dislike the film. I think credit should be given where it’s due, though.

I will say the dialogue about the force between Luke and Ray were brilliant. As much as he shot in the wrong direction from TFA I do see that he understood the core mythology of the Force and its importance to the Star Wars universe. It's much better then magic blood.

I have that exact same problem. Diologue is quiet as hell but sound FX blows up my ears

Here’s what I got for audio options on my Sony Blu-ray player

My Blu-ray player plugs into my tv with hdmi, then my sound bar plugs into my tv with some weird small cable..

your sound bar may also have a feature meant to level things out. mine does.

a lot of TVs and sound bars also give you the ability to go in and set how much emphasis is put on different ranged of hertz (you can look up online which ranges contain which kinds of sounds) and raise or lower those to try and even them out better.
