Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Post-release)

I don't want it and I'm a star wars Fan, whats the obsession people have with plagius?

Had my 4th viewing to see it tonight, makes that the most Ive ever seen any pic on the big screen

It just doesn't get worse in any way, just more and more enjoyable, I tried to watch it with a few of the recent gripes in mind that people repeat over again , like Chewie's no good and cant walk properly etc, I have to say who ever he was he still does a great Chewie impression and Chewie is still great in this movie, One thing that does drop away is the humour, but thats the same with most comedy after a while

I still got emotional and I still love it, even the Red Dwarf bit gets better, Kylo loosing the saber fight seems just as valid and so does the use of the force in the film.....

Paid more attention to the vision and yep she's a Kenobi for sure, if you watch the film with she's a Kenobi in mind rather than a Skywalker then it just seems to work better, but who knows...and I don't actually care as long as who ever she is, is done well.

Still hate C3PO though and he needs to be gotten rid of ..... make him into a gold vase or something...or just pawn him

The ending with Luke just gets better each time as WE HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THIS IS GOING..... and thats the best bit

i actually like chewie in this one, i liked seeing his fingers, i liked seeing him climbing the ladder, we really never seen him agile. he did the Tarzan in ROTJ but its just him hanging from a rope... i like how he acted alittle more ape like. when nodding or shaking his head, i thought he was awesome in the film

Were you the same dude that was deadset on Kylo being Luke?
Nope not me sorry .

I just thought Luke ( if the Jedi teachings were correct ) should have to fall to the dark due to his lack of training always being driven by his emotion's and use of the dark side to defeat Vader . as well as Yoda flat out telling him he would if he left to confront Vader. I am starting to believe the Jedi had been around long enough to not know what the hell they were talking about though . and whenever it came up in a discussion was told they could not believe I would bring it up again. (Because apparently you can only discuss it once unless it is everyone else's opinion as well .)

Like the prequels and ewoks being terrible!

(Which I completely disagree with and truely can't believe has to be stated by someone at least once every 20 or so posts but you don't see me bitching about the constant hate !)

Until now

Actually, I was watching ROTJ with my kids and was super disappointed the Yub Nub song was cut from the SE...i

Honestly, as much as I like the Ewok song, I think the new song in the SE fits thematically better in the film, even discounting the galaxy-wide celebrations (one of the few things that seemed to be a change for the better in the SE). Truthfully, either song works just as well for the ending scene.

#1 i dont know about obsession just seems odd Palgueis and snoke just happen to be running the same long con from the shadows ? It seems too weird to me for a complete unknown to pop up and be the new secret dark master in charge of everything. But who knows?

#2What is the red dwarf bit ?
can't believed I missed that easter egg . tell me tell me lol

#3Exactly we could still find out jar jar is running the whole show . he is the chosen one and is master to both Luke and Smoke (that is it Snoke in Smoke from now on I'm tired of fighting the auto correct) .

And Smoke is a completely, completely new character too I give up the auto correct wore me down lol.

The machines win!
wait Snoke is a droid !
This changes EVERYTHING!!!!!

Seeing how TFA went, I think it's clear that Luke will be training Rey and Snoke will be training Kylo while Phasma is pursuing Finn and Poe, almost like there's a bounty on them. Rey and Kylo will have a great light saber battle at the end of the film (where a shocking piece of information about Rey's lineage will be revealed) and the safety of our heroes will be in jeopardy.

Quite simply, I'm sure that the First Order will be striking back. Who could imagine such a story line?

Well i think Doc Brown is gonna show up in a in a cobled together Y-Wing and tell Luke they have to go back in time and save Anakin . totally original .

If that is what you believe GOOD !
Don't see HOW you can state it as fact .

. Do you really think his reaction would be yeah he's plagueis we were not gonna reveal it until IX but you brought it up so I now have to reveal everything.

I got the same reaction when I said Han would die and Luke used the dark side too much he could go to the dark. And now Han is dead and others are talking that Luke might be a grey Jedi or something .
Until the movies are out we only have speculation.
John Harrison is not Khan.

Personally, I don't think Snoke is Plagueis - but, there certainly is some interesting circumstantial evidence that could make one believe he could be.

The difference here is that ESB the Empire was definitely reeling after the destruction of the Death Star, where the Rebellion was celebrating a massive victory. This time around, both sides took heavy hits. The Republic is in shambles with the loss of the Senate and their fleet, The Resistance took heavy casualties as well - and well, there's the loss of Han.

The way I see it, you have to put yourself in Finn's position. He's holding a device he's never seen or used before, but he has a vague idea about what it's supposed to do and he's trying to get it to do that. So he's looking at it, he sees a big red button, and he pushes the button to see what happens. That doesn't seem unreasonable, and any one of us would probably have done the same thing if we were him. Now, the fact that the lightsaber fired up seems to conflict established canon, and I don't think we ever saw Anakin, Luke, or Han fire it up by doing that, but I don't know if there's anything out there that says you can't fire it up that way. I don't know enough about Anakin's/Luke's lightsaber to make that determination, so I don't know if it's wrong or simply new. But when I saw it, my first thought was, "Oh, the RPF is going to go crazy over that," and then nobody mentioned it. :lol
I see why Finn would press it, I just wonder why (behind the scenes) they decided to make the button the activation switch. But I totally agree, and like I said: I love the fact they're using the actual flash bulb button!
And I had the same thought, and nobody mentioned it!

The red button could always be that store "TRY ME" button and then there's some little button that you switch over to deactivate that for "Knight Mode" in the activation switch spot. :D

Just a quick question guys: I've been trying my hand at designing T-shirts for a crowdsourcing site, all of which are Star Wars /TFA related (that's why I'm asking here)
Is there any thread where I could post a link to it? Wouldn't mind your opinion on some of the designs.

Was talking to an acquaintance about Ep 7 and how he thought it was an unoriginal re-hash. He's not entirely wrong but I was arguing that it was the "back to basics" film we needed to get the bad taste of the prequels out of our mouths and get fans back on board.

His response was "The prequels are well written, well acted, and have a great story".

He was then shocked that I told him we couldn't talk about this any more because I no longer had ANY respect for his opinion. Sure, you can like the prequels, I have no issue with that. However poor script, bland acting, and convoluted plot are facts of the prequels, not opinions. :lol

He's since blocked me on FB. Good riddance, I don't need that kind of stupidity in my life.

That is my biggest issue. Instead of taking a breath and making another chapter in the saga, they were so self concious about not being the prequels that it's all we see. There so much anti-lucas contrivance going on that all they could do was rehash they things that they are absolutely positive about.

It's a set up film, the real story is yet to be told. I don't know why people don't seem to understand that. This is planned from day 1 as a new TRILOGY.

It had two jobs:

1. Get out from the prequel legacy of awfulness.

2. Establish the new characters in a way that they don't get overshadowed by the OT characters and that makes them likeable as an ensemble cast that we want to go on adventures with.

Nailed it on both accounts. To have an overly ambitious plot would be counter productive to those aims.

We end this film with:

- Rey, Finn, Poe, and BB8 as likeable characters.

- Kylo as a very 3 dimensional bad guy. The only other character in the entire saga with remotely the same depth is Vader.

- A well established "Empire" replacement which is now hurt and undoubtedly angry.

- Luke - Frickin' - Skywalker. Very smartly left to mostly play his role in the next film otherwise he would have stolen the show from the new characters.

- A perfect set up for the new trilogy and clearly a small start of a much larger story to be told.

Exactly.

The problem with most speculation is that it presumes that everything to come is foretold in the first film.

I think that snoke is a new character.

They have the opportunity to make him plagius. The star wars fans want that.

Don't speak for all of us please.

They went out of their way to not reference the prequels, and making a major villain secretly be a random Sith that nobody other than hardcore SW nerds remember is not in JJ's plans. When asked directly what he thought of the prequels, JJ said that to him, Star Wars was IV-VI. To think that he would take something from I-III is absurd.
