Training scenes in general (not just in Rebels) bore me. You don't need to show very much of someone learning something to make the point that....they're learning something. That's what the montage is for.
A little bit of character stuff, and a WHOLE LOT OF TRAINING. Yawn.
It just felt clumsy. As if there was a scene between the bendu and Sabine that we missed
But I agree with David as he says in the Rebel Recon that the scenes were not mere training scenes. They were about working to get Sabine past some dark issues she had and getting her to accept her new role. I don't feel like any time was wasted in telling this story.

Yeah, Sabine was going through a process where Kanan forced her to admit the truth to herself about her past that she had buried deep inside. I found it very effective.
And clearly this is part one of a 2 episode arc at least based on the previews.
As far as being serialized, this show has always been in a bit of a weird middle ground. It's serialized, yet they write everything to feel like standalone episodes. So it can leave you feeling like you are often delaying the big story.I think this is a major problem you are having with understanding this show. Just because an episode is not titled Part 1, 2, 3... Does not mean that the story is done at the end the episode. This show is one big story arc with smaller story arcs in a season and between episodes.
My guess is that the Bendu scene will lead to something more. If not, then yes, it was pointless other than Bendu fans getting to see him again.
These convorees are getting alarmingly close to midichlorians. It's becoming more and more clear Convorees are like sentient creatures that observe the Force. Bendu as well, it wasn't coincidental he was nearby and dollars to donuts that is setting up something.
what if bendu was a shape shifter and he IS the owl?
If that was the worst, then they're doing a helluva job frankly.
I was hoping for bendu when they headed way out. Was disappointed it was only a glimpse. Anything for more Tom Baker
Also caught the owls swooping in to watch the training too.
The Bendu is Snoke. Everyone knows that.
Whaaaaat? I thought he was Rey's father!
I'm posting this here. Let's see how many still ask.
The next episode in Season 3 titled “Legacy of Mandalore” scheduled to air on Disney XD on Saturday, February 18.
I think the real question we got from this episode is...
Do we still call them gauntlets or do we in the costuming community now call them Vambraces?
lol
Well, to be completely pedantic, vambrace is the correct term.![]()
