STAR WARS Rebels new animated series!

I just don't like the Clone Wars series,....it was cancelled

The Rebels cartoon was commissioned,.....showing a deliberate shift to an OT style even mimicking scenes & music cues,.....I loved that,...never missed an episode,.....now more & more Clone Wars characters & themes are being re-introduced......It's just not to my taste anymore

I'm probably wrong about it,...but I think this direction won't last long

We both now that it was cancelled because it was too mature and expensive. It was in the middle of a very good stride.

I really think it was cancelled because it had slipped into nerdsville.....& not what Disney bought Star Wars for

They bought it for the meat of the burger, not the bun

Love seeing more of the familiar rebel ships.

If Thawn is canon can Mara Jade be far behind?

Yes she can be way far behind.. Like non existent. Not that I wouldn't love to see her back (I know my daughter would) but just because one element of old canon is back, it does not mean related elements will ever be re-established.

i think of the old canon like a Marvel (or DC) superhero comic book series. And the new canon like the movies. The characters and events originated in the comics but movies may utilize characters and events in different ways. Origins, characters, events, interactions may change or be totally eliminated.

My only problem with rebels bringing certain heavy hitters into this is that rebels is hardly the show to do them justice.

Heck, even hondo feels like a toned down joke

Rebels is telling the story of Star Wars and providing the story group the opportunity to give characters an opportunity to have continuity in canon. I appreciate that.

But we've got a lot of years a head of us to tell stories. Disney seems to be blowing their wad on previousy existing characters.

There will be another series after rebels. Maybe hold off with some of them until then.

Or maybe a few standalone films

I can appreciate that sentiment but I'm not seeing anything in Rebels that would preclude using these characters in other mediums like film. If anything it keeps them relevant, in the game so to speak. The only character it's clear they are really burning through in Rebels is Maul and that's likely because they don't have additional plans for him outside animation.
