A few months ago I started building Chopper. Since he's a junk droid I wanted to scavenge as much as possible. The frame was made from scrap wood my neighbor gave me.
The scavenging went out the window when I built the legs. I decided to 3d print them.
A couple of the early prints had issues thanks to some cheap filament but I was able to salvage the parts.
From there I decided to print a few more parts. While I could have made one of the details out of pvc pipe, I wanted to hide a switch in it so I printed it.
I couldn't locate a saucer that matched the shape I wanted so I printed that as well.
I want to debut him at Pensacon and before I knew it time was running out. I've been pushing to get him complete. I've got less than two weeks left.
I still have to make battery boxes, paint the body, weather the body, and install all the electronics.
