Cool,I had never seen the Vader one before. Thanks for sharing

P.S. if this is your eBay link it should be in the JY. (you would get better sales there anyway):)
If it is not then you can't post the link.

Nono.. This is not my ebay or any atemt of sale. I just wanted ot reffer to all the nice photos that the user had. I never seen those photos my self. I think that is a very nice Vader. Also some nice details to C3PO and R2.

I had to laught when looking at C3PO holding a portable computer... WOW thats big!!!!

Then you have to remove the auction link, TMP. No links to active auctions which are not yours.

Sorry, I had remove the auction link.

But thanks for posting these! Very neat finds.

Check out R2. See those bolt holes on the sides of the skirt? That's a unit leftover from ANH when they had to bolt struts between the skirt and the ankles to keep the legs from bending out.

Thanks for posting the pics! :thumbsup

Actually, that's not a portable computer; it's a wapuro ("word processor"), something like a cross between a computer and a typewriter, with a built-in printer. They were quite popular in Japan during the 1980s and 1990s. But you're right that (1) it's meant to be portable and (2) it's BIG. :lol

what is he holding in his right hand?

The picture and description of the Panasonic product in the lower right corner of the ad seem to indicate a "monitor" of some kind, although it's hard to make out whether that's really what's in Vader's hand.

Could it be a remote control?

While surfing just now, I happened across another in the series: George and Chewie. Sorry it's so small; it's the only example I could find.

Thanks, Pilot! :thumbsup

Actually, it's not. It's a switch to power on the receiver and a light to indicate it's on...

This was my first job as an Artoo operator; all those suits are straight from the archives.

Neat! Thanks, Don!

I see that the base parts of Threepio's hands are silver (and maybe right forearm?). He tended to have odd silver parts in photos from that era. (I recall a publicity photo in a AD interview in STARLOG in which his "shorts" were silver as well as his hands.)

For anyone interested, attached is a pic of an R2 with those brackets I mentioned. I see now that they were mounted lower than the "holes" I thought I saw in the poster's R2.

Somewhere on the internet there are a series of commercials from these sessions. A little Lost in Translation but SW style. Someone posted a link here a long time ago.

It was all gold. Though parts of the gold could've rubbed off here and there, the suit picks up reflections from everything, and often looks to be a different color than it is. I know many might not believe me, but I've seen it with my own eyes.

Whenever shooting 3P0, we'd have to completely tent the set to avoid unwanted reflections. During the filming of these sets of commercials, he was all enclosed, but there was a blue flicker around his eyes...looking around, we discovered a TV monitor 30 feet away.

For Ep3, we minimized the reflections as best as possible, then they others were digitally removed in post production.

Hello Don,

what about the wide stripes on the leather Vader chest piece ? Are we looking at a stunt suit here ?

DON - it's GREAT to see you posting here from time to time, BTW.

Great Shots TMP. even noticed the cod from ANH beging worn on Vader's ESB outfit. Just goes to show, you can mix it up alittle and not worry about being "SUPER ACCURATE" C

I remembed seeing them on a Japanese site. There were also posters of George Lucas holding Luke's lightsaber from ROTJ (not sure which one) and of GL and Yoda levitating cross-legged three feet off the ground.

Some of the TV commercials are hilarious. Seeing Jabba cry cracks me up.
Years ago, I saved a couple but they were in low res (240x176) and low bitrate. Anyone got them in better quality?
