Star Wars Episode VII Stormtrooper Pics

In fact, when I saw this sequence, I said:How are they doing to differentiate themselves?

So, in my mind, and as is blurred, I thought that the other group have an other/old helmet.

In conclusion: Sorry for the useless post.

For that matter, we have the whole question of how this First Order relates to the Galactic Empire at all. Remnant? Splinter group? One of multiple factions? For all we know at this point, there could still be regular Stormtroopers still out there in their quarter-century-old gear. Or something evolving along the lines seen in the Legacy comics:

Or that have evolved along a different path, such as this non-LFL concept art:

I like the TFA Stormies we're getting, but I'm massively curious if this is the new, evolved look for the only Stormtroopers out there, or one design line of many/several. Exciting times. :)

Heck, one of the things I like about the new Stormtroopers that I haven't seen commented on is the nod to the Republic Commandos with the chestplate.

I like the one with armor in the left, though the brow is not perfect.

After seeing the trailers I always thought the TFA Stormies needed the old black vocorder on the chin, not just empty white space that makes the helmet look like a duck

I don't see the duck thing so much. Side by side with an OT Stormie, there are enough commonalities of line that I have no problems with it. But I do agree there should be an annunciator on the chin somewhere, as that was always the p/a component, from Phase I Clone Trooper on. Even a couple of slits to imply there's a speaker inside would be fine, but as it is, I'm wondering how they reply to officers or address crowds.

Ditto, fantastic design. Just as the clones evolved from Episodes 1-3, hopefully the troopers will change from 7-9. Please make it so, Mr. Mouse.

Yeah it would be interesting if they followed the EU idea of multiple Empire factions vying for power. I would actually like to see multiple Empire factions fighting.

The answer to your question is simple, it's the 'mic tip' that's on the left side of the helmet, or, if IIRC, there's a whole lot of mesh on black part of the helmet at the bottom, that could be a speaker as well.

The "mic tip" was never a mic tip -- or speaker. One-way air filters for outside air, or attach point for external air supply. I figure this is no different. None of the other First Order helmets have visible p/a apparatus either.

[ETA: I have no problem with it being an internal/transducer sort of sound generation, like I have on my Mando buckets, but there's no track record of that on Republic/Imperial troop helmets.]

It also reminds me of Donald Duck, I really don't like the design, the tie fighter helmet would have better suited the stormtrooper.

When I first saw the new stormtroopers I'll admit that my heart dropped a bit. For nostalgic reasons I was really looking forward to seeing our classic TK's on screen. Again for those who saw them first, and for the first time for those who didn't.
However, as I come to accept it for what it is, and look at these pictures, I'll admit that the new look is beginning to look real good to me now. I don't care for the Tie Pilot though.

Honestly, I wouldn't rule out the notion that the OT-style armor might at least make a cameo in TFA and I'd say there's a pretty good chance that we'll see OT troopers in Rogue One. For the latter, let's just hope they maintain an eye for detail and give us ANH-style troopers rather than TESB- or ROTJ-style. Lol!

You said it. I'm dying to see some real OT troopers being glorified on the big screen.
