STAR WARS A NEW HOPE WHEN DID GREEDO GET A NEW LINE???

But hasn't this been the issue with Lucas from the beginning, going back decades before Disney?

I mean, there isn't even a copy of STAR WARS in the Library of Congress, because they want the original film, as first shown in theaters in '77. Lucas had repeatedly refused, because even though THAT'S the version that won the awards, he felt it was inferior to what came before.

EDIT:I meant to say, 'what came after'.

Inferior to his cartoonish revisions, but yup - that's it. Same guy who argued in front of Congress for the preservation of classic films.

Yeah, my bad... I mistyped that.
I meant he thought it was inferior to what came AFTER.

Thanks

As far as I know neither Lucas or Disney has ever directly confirmed if the acquisition of Lucasfilm contained terms about not releasing the original theatrical version of the OT. Lucas has certainly made comment that he wouldn't want the theatrical OT restored and released but he has a history of changing his mind about decisions especially when it comes to Star Wars. This keeps popping up every so often because an official restored version is still something that many fans want.
