STAR WARS A NEW HOPE WHEN DID GREEDO GET A NEW LINE???

Just watched A New Hope on Disney+ for the first time and noticed Greedo has a New Line.....right after he tells Han he has been waiting for this for a long time...then han says Yes I bet you have, then they go back to Greedos face and He say Makunkey in Rodian and then the new edited who shot first mess starts.

When did they add Greedo saying Makunkey and what the heck does that mean?

I know I never saw that before....anyone else notice this???

That was changed 2 years ago. Although, I had never taken the time to actually watch it til now. Another totally pointless change.

Found this mix of the differnt versions.

And this interview by the actor who played him. Pretty funny.

You *do* realize there was actually alot more to that scene.

The one time Lucas didn't use "faster...more intense," as his directing. The scene was very casual. He actually filmed over 2 hours of footage, that initially started with Greedo pitching his stand-up comedy routine to Solo. Solo wasn't buying it. If you liked Chris Waltz playing the bad guy in Tarantino's flicks, this was the birthing place for slow build-ups to a wrathful conclusion. Ultimately, it would result in a "yo momma," joke competition between Star Trek fans.

NOTE: This post make reference to the long-time-forgotten fifth Hero post in the Original Star Trek

So, why did they leave it short and ruined when they could have added some worthwhile footage to the film to give the scene more weight and meaning?

We need a new editor!

Thank you Jedi Michael, just never knew.
Who knows what other little (or big) changes that Disney will make.
Some might go unnoticed, and some will just cause fans to get more upset.
These guys sure like to hit a hornets nest and then dance in the middle of it all.

These are the same people that have changed the name of Boba Fett's ship and have made the Jungle Cruise in Disneyland PC. I'm waiting for them to change or remove all of the scenes in Return of the Jedi with Leah in the slave outfit. At least George never went that far.

Ok, so, isn’t this like, old news? Isn’t there already a thread on the RPF about this? People have pretty conclusively determined that the changes that are present on Disney+ (Like maclunky, the new color grade, the 4K transfers) are from the 3D preparations George Lucas was making right before he sold Star Wars, back when he was going to re-release all the films in theaters again in 3D.

The RotJ "NO" was SO completely NOT needed at all and doesn't help the scene one single bit, but at least it sounds better (barely) than the horrible tone deaf version from Sith.
I looked it up on youtube just to rehear it. This comment someone left is perfect.

"Remember, in 1983, Lucas did not have the technology or money to make Vader say no."

And speaking of sounds, the 2 times they changed Obi-Wans krayt dragon call in Hope.....they might as well edit in him holding a car horn next time.....

....and now that I think about it, I should totally specify that by editing the car horn in. I mean both the sound AND him now holding an actual physical horn.

One of these in one hand.

And might as well give him the whole steeling wheel in the other. I mean, ILM's got this, they can make it look good.....right George!!!

I would have no issue with edits, even moronic edits, as long as the original was just as available. Why they don't offer an edition that has multiple releases of the OT (at minimum the theatrical, SE and latest edition with all of the changes) restored and in 4K available is beyond me. They could charge so much more and make a killing off of it. I'd buy it. Then everyone is happy because the version of SW that they grew up with is available and Disney is doing what they love more than anything, making more money.

If anything, it’s George keeping Disney from releasing the theatrical cuts. Many people have speculated that part of the terms of the deal that he and Disney made included not altering or releasing the OT beyond his Special Editions. Good grief, I thought this stuff was pretty common knowledge. I know everyone likes to pick on Disney (which I get, they’re terrible scumbags), but in this case, everything anyone’s complaining about in this thread, maclunky, the OT, etc., are all certainly caused by Lucas.

And the drivers side door, so he can roll the window down. It gets hot on Tatooine.
