Just a quick update everyone.
To date :
As of date we have :
1. Prototypes of the shirt ...Done
2. Prototype of Pants pattern ... Done
3. Prototype of correct Delta pattern... Done
4. Identified and approached fabric Printing team. ... Done
5. Identified and approached production team ... Done
What needs to be done by EVERYONE and need your help !
1. Finding the correct source of jumbo spandex. As many of you know our work, we will NOT move forward with incorrect fabric. So far everything out there has not even been close to the same color as seen in the movie costume reference cards. Just in case there's any confusion, the jumbo spandex that was used was the same color inside and outside of the swatch on the card.
2. Sourcing supplies of boots - this is a long shot but there has to be stash out there somewhere.
3. Reference photos, reference photos, reference photos. This makes the world turn - any help would be appreciated.

I can't give a 100% on this, but I remember during the movie thinking that the fabric looked like a crepe for the cadets. Not sure about her Enterprise outfit though.
I'm really glad this project is moving along, even if at 1/4 impulse power. :lol
But really, I'm excited to see how this all develops - I have a folder of reference photos I got offline, but I doubt I have any you have not already seen.
Let's be happy for those prop cards - I'm sure it would have been considerably more difficult in identifying the fabric without them.

I'm quite sure it was identified as jumbo spandex already from the first promo shot of Spock in hi-res... But I could be wrong... This is how I remember it anyway...:lol
True that, but the fabric sample is the next best thing to studying the actual costume piece in person - at least you can get an accurate look at the color used.:wacko

I remember reading somewhere that it was jumbo spandex just like they used for the ST:TNG uniforms. I believe they used white spandex and dyed the fabric themselves and used dye sublimation for the Delta Shield details. If I find the link I'll post it. I don't know enough about spandex to say more unfortunately.
Hmmm...custom coloring the spandex adds another step to completing the shirt - if that's the route chosen to travel on.
This question goes out to Got Maul, since you are working hard on putting this one together: How much more work, time and money would be involved to dye the spandex to the appropriate color??

I think I speak for everyone here when I say it is a great relief to know you and your peeps are working on this one - if it's one thing the RPF has shown us over the years, replicas made by fans, for fans will always blow any commercially available item out of the water.
