Star Trek XI Uniform shirts

Wheee! Thank god registration came through in time to jump this wagon. For what it's worth, let me add to the 'popular demand' for an XL-size. Us old bird Trekkies don't get to 50 without increasing our mass. And our cranial albedo.

Is it a possibility to have these in time for Halloween? I have pretty much decided on doing this for my costume - my GF was easily talked into wearing the ladies uniform too.

This run is why I rejoined the RPF. Now I can finally post effective today. I saw this film and knew I needed the whole get up. It would be nice to hit the dance floor on Halloween for a change without clunking around in SW armor. Stoked of course Got Maul you are on top of this!

Thanks for the compliments all !

Well a few things happened today that got me excited as well as saddened because of the reality of this project.

This is where your money meets your mouth.

We start with one simple premise when my group starts a project: We will get as close to the original as humanely possible. If the original sources are revealed, without a doubt, they will be used. Its a not a question of whether we use them or not as much as we use them or we don't do this.

The reason why I say this is because today I discovered some the originators of the fabric and ultimately the pattern. I received some price quotes today.

That was the exciting part...the prospect of having the EXACT color as used (by the way, they were custom colors made- this I know for fact from research that has also been validated by the original artists).

The sticky party is this : Just the shirt will cost in the range of $220- 250 which is still very rough. It will be exact as I have always pledged in our projects, but its a tough glass to swallow for many.

If we don't have enough people to run this - it won't happen.

Also, don't ask about just doing the fabric run, it won't save you much from the above number and we're not interested in doing a project to half completion.

I know its a big number and I don't hide behind it. In this case, it simply is the cost of exactness and accuracy. I humbly ask for your opinions on this and if you will or will not stay with this project.

"Dammit Jim! I'm a doctor NOT an ATM!!!"

Wow that is going to be really high! May just have to break down and buy a Rubies!

Will cost per item go down if there are more people? What would be the number of individuals to get a price break?

That's half the problem. These guys who made the colors and stuff know they are supreme kings of the wicker people and can ask for any price. Price break is possible, but we're talking in the hundreds already and its not that substantial to be honest.

This is when costuming becomes like a dang good prop !

For those wondering about the Kellogg's shirts, I just got my Engineering tee today... don't bother. It's ultra thin jersey material with an iron-on insignia (that the material texture shows through) that has rounded edges on the Engineering swirl. I know that the promotional images are to be taken with a grain of salt, but damn. Huge difference. It's not even fitted, it's loose and simply embarassing. I was really hoping for a tee I could just wear around.

If the shirts turn out really accurate, with all the correct details ans super thick spandex, $250 isn't too bad honestly. If my wallet can swing it when the time comes I' probably still be in.

Sure, it's certainly not chump change these days, but you have to figure that the screen shirts most likely cost a whoooole lot more.

well, that's too rich for my blood. I hadn't posted my intent but I've been watching with interest. I just wanted to note that it sounded like everyone that was just wanting the fabric wasn't doing so for any kind of price break, but because you weren't offering anything larger than a Lg, or maybe it was XL, and they would need/want a larger size. Well..I'm sure those that do get in this will love the shirt

Still interested in a jersey and a dress. Ideally if they're ready to ship within the next couple of weeks. I've got a costume party coming up on the 25th...

Collecting props is an expensive hobby no matter which way you look at it. Anyone in the hobby knows this and should come to expect that items of such high quality will go into the hundreds.
That being said, I am certainly IN on this. I support all the work being done and am extremely proud to be a part of this message board knowing that there are dedicated individuals here that will stop at nothing to give us the best of the best.
My advice for anyone who wants one but cannot seem to afford one is to do what I am doing....BUDGET YOURSELF!!
In the grand scheme of things, $250 or $275 is not that much to save for. Set aside $30/week - cut out things you spend money on that you don't need (or want more than the shrit) - like expensive dinners, DVDs, marijuanna (just smoke someone elses), etc...
I know it is easier said than done, but anyone here who says they will go with the Rubies shirts should EXPECT to get an inferior 'Halloween costume' quality product. If you want the best - you have to bite the bullet and go for the gold....or blue or red.....

The price is not a concern, I have NFL Jerseys that run in that range, but my concern is size. The L that was mentioned is not going to work for me.
