Does anyone have a template for cutting the metal (aluminum sheet?) that forms the frame of the visors used in the Star Trek Original Series episode, "Is There in Truth No Beauty?" Thanks!

A-pro-po of nothing;
I've always wondered about this ambigious title.
Does it mean that there is no beauty in the truth or is there really no beauty?

I made a few of these years ago.

I'll see if I can dig out the template.

As for the title.

It's a question not statement. Meant to solicit knowledge not impart it.

Well... most Trek titles don't seem to make very much sense until you dissect them. The line is from a poem by George Herbert.

The poem itself is supposed to be asking why beautiful poetry is only written about earthly things which he considers shallow.

I believe it is asking "isn't there beauty in truth, or do we only know vanity?" ...at least in the instance of this episode.

One thing that always bugged me about this episode was the flagrant use of the word "ugly" to describe an alien species. I've never known our characters to be so bigoted... of course, there were some weird character problems in the 3rd season that also bugged me. Such as Kirk falling completely in love with an android in a day.

As for the visor... at first I was thinking maybe it was something commercially available in the 60's, but looking at screencaps, I can't even see how it fits comfortably over the ears. It actually looks like it hugs the head. I wonder if it has a nose piece.
