Star Trek TOS jumpsuits

Every so often I think about making a Tantalus Colony outfit from the episode "Dagger of the Mind." I do not know if I will actually make it, but does anyone know if the jumpsuits were off the shelf, modified, or totally custom? I can't find anything even similar. Google has failed me (although I did find a really cool website that makes me want to lose a lot of weight and get a sewing machine starfleet1701st.yuku.com/).

Sewing is not that hard, first step is to construct a duct tape mannequin and buy alot of pins to hold the fabric in place on the mannequin. Buy a handheld sew machine, it's very quick and easy to use. You can get one for $10-$20.

Thanks, but what I'm really after is info on where they got them from: whether they were totally custom, slightly customized, or an off the rack item.

So ironic ... I was just looking at this yesterday, as I want (am hoping) to try to construct my own
Captain Marvel style cuffed boots - per THIS TUTORIAL

I only wonder if that "Handy Stitch" is strong enough to get through faux leather/pleather

Not to let this thread get too sidetracked (even though I am not getting the info I want) I would not trust one of those things for an emergency repair. And that was just based on the tv commercials. Look at the reviews. The thing can barely handle cotton cloth. It would probably make a weird noise and die if you tried anything heavy, let alone pleather.

So I take it you want to buy a uniform and not make it, I'll keep my eyes open for anything I see on the web, but If you want to make it,there is a thread labeled "Jean Luc Picard's jacket" you can ask the thread creator for some tips, he did a damn good job making that jacket.

Well, I would prefer to buy. If I can't do that then maybe modify a similar jumpsuit. Right now I'm not interested in making something from scratch at least until I re-learn how to use a sewing machine. They look like something spa employees would wear.

only TOS medical jumpsuit I could find anything about on the internet was this one:

Star Trek Prop, Costume & Auction Authority: Star Trek: The Original Series Blue Medical Jumpsuit from "Where No Man Has Gone Before"

Wish I could help more. I'd love to know anything you find out.

I think that and what I am looking for were both made from the same style "base" jumpsuit. Here is what I am looking for. You can also see the occasional crewman walking around in something similar and different colors.
