Star Trek TMP Wrist Communicator

HI Folks,
Long time fan of the RPF and this is my first posting here. To give a quick background, I am an illustrator and recently a digital sculptor. I have worked on fan films, and a stop motion short for the United Way Affiliate. And most recently I have worked on some toy design and I hope to pursue that as a career. I love to build models and I am slowly making my way to 3D printing. If you want to see my work you can visit my site: www.pariahviscom.com. But for now to the prop...

I started making the wrist comm from Star Trek The Motion Picture one weekend and it came together really fast. I constructed it out of styrene and marked it with decals from an F-14 kit and a Ferrari kit. I had a lot of fun creating this little prop. The only aspect of this build that is stumping me is the wrist band.

The wrist band looks to me like a strip of aluminum or brass painted white, and some padding on the inside for comfort. You could just screw the band to your communicator from the inside and then cover the screws with the padding.

Nice work!

Nice work! If you are in the US, you can find some plain aluminum bracelet bands at your local Michaels that will probably work. They are circular and can be bent into a more oblong shape.

I check in at the Michael's where I live and unfortunately they did not have the bracelet, the only solution I could find there was some sheet metal and tin snips and make my own... I must keep looking....
