That's what I had figured, but I've never really seen anybody do any other color than the standard equipment color. Just for some ideas to make my equipement my own

a couple of years ago there was somebody selling modded playmates tricorders in different colors, each was specific to him for its color , silver was standard, green for borg, red for engineering, and black for security, something like that and they were equipped with lcd screens and multifunction buttons respective to the specific tricorder.

I do not remember who,but it's a suggestion if you want to deviate from the norm,
