Star Trek Into Darkness (Post-release)

That's pretty much what I have been saying. Good action flick, bad Trek.

I don't really think they're trying to be funny as in ha ha ha funny. They're just talking about movies like will all do and pointing out the flaws in the story and characters. Some of it is funny because they hit the nail right on the head and illuminate a particularly ill conceived plot point or concept.

I have heard other reviews of their and people seem to really like these guys, I just never have.

It's not them that's funny. It's the stupidity of the script that's funny. They're just pointing it out.

heres something funny to point out - you paid money to see Trek 09 and for the past couple if years youve complained about every aspect of Trek 09, then started complaining about STID before the movie was released, and yet once again paid money to see STID, now youre complaining about STID after seeing it, and im guessing youll start complaining about the next trek film before its released, and ONCE AGAIN plop down money to see it and continue complaining about it.

seems to me your best solution is to stop giving money to the film makers who supposedly write stupid scripts.

your actions make about as much sense as someone who hates broccoli walking into a restaurant and constantly ordering broccoli and complaing to the management that the they dont like the food.

Yeah you're pretty much the only person who doesn't find RLM both insightful and hilarious.

Maybe I don't count, but I don't find them to be either. I think they are a criminally unfunny, interpretively mediocre, total waste of bandwidth.

The fact that so much of fandom uses them as actual justification for their shallow objections is, honestly, embarassing.

Well, that was stated far better then I managed. :) I like the cut of your jib, Nick.

And what would you say if I had downloaded this film or sneaked into the theater without paying? You'd probably call me a thief who doesn't support the industry creates props that this entire website is dedicated towards. I mean, what else would the alternative be? To not going to see the film? Well, where would that leave me with my favorite franchise since these movies are the only new Star Trek "things" being made? I'd sure like to be a part of the discussion, but in order to do that respectfully, I have to pay to see the film. The one thing that's worse than what I'm doing now is if I pay to see the film and say nothing at all, and who would ever want to do that? And my complaints towards this film aren't the same complaints I had about the last either, so it's not the broccoli that's bad, it's the food in general that the restaurant is serving.

And if you think buying a ticket to this movie is the only way I support Star Trek, you don't know how much of a fan I am of the franchise. I own the entire original series on DVD and BluRay, TNG on BluRay, DS9 on DVD, the movies on VHS, LaserDisc, DVD and BluRay, lots of Star Trek merchandise involving models, action figures, replicas, posters and all the soundtracks. If you factor in the cost of a matinee showing of STID compared to what I've spent on the Star Trek franchise as a whole, it would probably amount to, oh, less than .0001%. And I've only seen this film once in the theater where I saw Star Trek: First Contact seven times in the theater.

So please Saber, if you don't like sitting next to a guy complaining about broccoli, move to a different table.

Wrong, the script was very tight, one can take issue with the story and plot.

I'm sorry. I was under the impression that the script contained the story and plot. After all, when an actor says they don't like the script, it usually doesn't involve how someone went from point A to point B. If all a script needed to be was "tight" in order to be good, no would bother writing stories or plot.

Clearly you have never read a script. It's ok to just acknowledge your error and move on.

They certainly put more thought into the actual movie than the writers and director did.

Now that is the most laughable comment you have made in a long time. Clearly you don't know much about the business of film production. As an Investment Advisor, I do however and you really just stepped in it.

I think it's more like a case that many people just came to their own conclusions about the movie and simply agree with their assessment. They're not shallow objections any more than your insights on the movie are a deep and intellectual commentary. No need to not so subtlety try to insult those that don't agree with your opinion.

I've got about as much interest in being "subtle" as I do in being "intellectual." Not trying to insult anyone. I do, however, object to the placement of a youtube "comedy" channel as legitimate criticism to the point of use in debate as justification rather than justifying your own objections.

Pointing to someone that agrees with you doesn't count as active participation in discourse.

And I didn't even want to talk about this guy in the first place! I only piped up when someone insinuated Bryan was their only detractor.

id say "why are you sneaking/pirating a movie you dont even like?

I mean, what else would the alternative be?

gee i dunno....maybe DONT GO SEE a movie that you think is stupid? lol

To not going to see the film?

gee, what a brilliant idea!

according to you these films are nothing like your favorite franchise, so whats the difference?

youd rather subject yourself to a film series you cant stand?
thats makes a loy of sense.

So please Saber, if you don't like sitting next to a guy complaining about broccoli, move to a different table.

ive tried doing that...and every time a different JJ trek thread pops up, youre right there complaining.

i cant seem to find a table far enough away from you
