Star Trek Ears!

There is a great article online with Makeup Mag about how they did the amazing ears and such on the new Trek movie. Really interesting. When I saw the movie I wondered how they did the ears. It is obvious that they weren't the usual foam latex ears they used in the past. Worth a read...

If u never saw this mag before it's a great resource!

Unless I didnt see something I should have, the article was rather vague and short. :confused

Damn...the article was swapped out! I get the mag so I will post...

Anyway....the ears and all prosthetic pieces were done in silicone instead of teh usual foam latex. This meant that instead of reusing the pieces, when they were taken off they would have to make a new one each time! By using silicone, it gave a translucent quality to the ears (in the movie u can see light passing through them) and also way more flexibility. They had to make a ridiculous number of ears etc but I think you'll agree they looked awesome....
