Star Trek Borg, anyone?

Hello My name is Pete and completely new to the site. I find movie costumes and replicas most fascinating. I've been confined to a wheelchair for many months following a left leg amputation. But enough about that . . . during that time I have become hooked on the Star Trek Borg and Borg Drone costumes and headgear.
I'm working an a costume based on a Chinese Fighter Pilot's g-suit as a base to built my costume. Any Ideas would help. Anyone tried this?
Also if anyone has ideas on the mask, - headgear or makeup that would just be great.

Thanks for allowing a newbie like me to join ( I'm 60 years old, too!)

WELCOME to the RPF Pete! Sorry to hear about your leg but I'm glad to see that hasn't stopped you from creating your costume.

I don't have any advice on the piece you are speaking of, but I can tell you that the members here are amazing with advice and suggestions.

Do you have a photo of what you are talking about that you could link us to or post here? I think a photo will help give people an idea what you are talking about.

Secondly, a Borg "Do It Yourself" costume can be a LOT of fun because you can use so many different inexpensive items to make it.

Again, Welcome to the RPF and I can't wait to see your work! And 60 years isn't old. Art Andrews (one of our MOD's) is in his LATE 70's!!!! (wink wink)

Welcome Pete,

Your a man after my own heart.
Many years ago I was laid up at home with not much
to do so I too created my Borg costume as well.
As suggested, there are many "found items" that can
be assimilated into a Borg outfit. Automotive stores are
a good place to find stuff. Also Sporting goods like
motto-cross armor. There are many blinking toys
that can be taken apart and attached as well.
I made my body armor out of black vinyl and thin foam,
which was contact cemented to heavy duty poster board
that I could cut to shape. The individual pieces were held
on with Velcro and elastic straps.
Some of the pieces where snapped into place as well.
The under garment was thermal underwear dyed brown.
Some of the hoses were round foam insulation.
Since I did not want to cut my hair, I made a kind of
skull cap with hoses and wires coming out of it.
I painted my face white and used latex to stick
a tube to my face. The mechanical arm part was
a plastic storage/transport tube for art or documents.

Hello propmaster2000,
firstly, i gotta exclaim WOW!!!! love ur borg outfit...
secondly, i wanna ask would u sell it? if so, how much would u sell it for my good cause

Explanation: i am doing a float for SYDNEY MARDI GRAS, here in Australia (March 1st 2014)
My Float is called COSPLAY WITH A CAUSE: BREAST CANCER (i lost my mum to it, and i have been very distraught about it even till this very day, i vow i wanna help as much people to INFORM them to go for memograms and xrays, etc via my dinner cabaret events and via my cosplay booths in different conventions here locally...
In the works right now are:
BORG Cube (1.5m),
BORG sphere (1.2m),
BORG Alcove (life size, to fit my 5'4 height, before boots)
BORG Drones (2) full drones mannequins
BORG Drones (2) half torso mannequins
Star Fleet Officers (2) half torso
(the half torso mannequins will be paired with each other '1 drone 1 officer')
All of the above will be on a platform with wheels and motor, arranged to fit em all on it, and i will be right in front of it, pulling the whole thing
And behind me will be people marching in any star trek outfits/costumes, supporting my Breast Cancer cause

So hopefully u will get back to me, with info and details (costs and packaging, etc) if u do wanna sell ur BORG outfit...
Thanks so much,
U can contact me via my e male too (ammpcd74 at g male dot com)
Thanks so much,
