Star Lord and Ronan for Comic Con Germany 2016

So, my Son and i going to the Comic Con Germany next year.
He wants a Star Lord Costume, so i decided to make a Ronan Costume for my self.

I will update this thread, but not regulary. I have almost a year time so i will take this time and make the Costumes as best i can. AND i will make everything from the scratch. ^^

I startet with the Blasters and a (puppet sized) test Coat for my Son.
Here are the parts i have so far.
Everything from the star lord Costume has to be scaled down, so it fits a 10 year old boy. ^^



Two days ago i got bored of sanding the blaster and startet the gloves:




My biggest problem at the moment are GOOD Ronan references from his back.
Maybe someone can help.

Here is my version of the TPS-L2 Walkman, downscaled to around 70%.

I roughly sprayed the Walkman, just to see how the colors on it work.

Update on the Blaster.
I make it in parts, mold them and cast them in resin.

Me too. XD
Pants, Mask and Coat will be the last things i make.
My Son is 9 and its a real possibility that he grows until next year, so i will push this 3 pieces as far as possible to the end.

Gloves look good. I keep considering making my own, but I do the short-jacket build and he doesn't wear them with it, if I recall correctly.

Yeah, as far as i know, he only wears them in the opening scene.

Soooo, quick Update of the Blasters.
One is more or less finished. I have to glue it together, fix some paint and some small Things.
I had big problems with the mold making (leaking silicone molds are a ****ing pain). Beause of this i have to order new resin.

But here are the Photos:

I just glued everything together, finished everything up, as i realized i totally forgot the lower barrel. -.-
So i have to make that tonight and the first one will finally be finished. ^^

How did you attach the leather panels to the glove?

I sewed everything together.
I hate gluing lether or fabric, it will come loose but even a ****ty seam will hold almost forever.

Did you make the entire glove from scratch, or did you attach the panels to existing gloves?

I used a childrens Work-Glove, cut it, made a new pattern with these parts and sewed it.

Thanks and yes, i add the valve-thing-metal-whatever as soon as i know how to attach it securely.


And thx for the link. The only thing i could not figure out is this cord or string at the left side.

The guys who attach valves to jackets are just using adhesives.

Also, I don't know what that vest piece is either. Looks like it's open to interpretation at the moment.
