Stan Winston Estate??

Hey guys. Check this out. Some of you know that I'm a Stan's and Jurassic Park fan for a long time. I recently listed some stuffs for sale on eBay and I listed my grail Stan Winston pieces, the bronze T-Rex and Raptor maquettes only to gain exposure to my listings. Btw, both were sold at Universal Studio stores long long time ago, limited 500 pcs each(the #/pcs. of the actual production is unknown, as far as I know, there are at least 59 of both pieces were produced).

Today, I've received the following message. I've already responded to the message. Let me know what you guys think and will keep you guys updated. :)

Some additional info of the bronze pieces.
Miscellaneous - Tyrannosaurus & Velociraptor

"To whom it may concern:

I am part of the Stan Winston estate and our understanding is that these items if authentic are the property of the estate and that they must be returned to the estate.

Unless you can produce legally satisfactory documentation we will take immediate legal action and that the estates legal counsel is aware of this

We demand that you pull the items immediately.

If you do not respond immediately we will contact ebay and demand that they pull it because the seller is not in lawful possession and the estate is the lawful owner.

The estate demands provenance on the items. When acquired, how acquired, by whom, paperwork, etc

Your immediate attention is greatly appreciated

Update.

I wrote a message to demand an apology and here's what I got. Message responded.

"We are still working out some details on our end and you have to understand that our attorneys job is to protect all interests of the estate, but would you be comfortable talking on the phone? If so please provide your phone number and I'll call you.

WOW...my first thought was 'scam', but.....I'd call and ask them WTF?!!?!!

You bought and paid for them so they have to prove you're not the rightful owner and that they are.
I have a Stan Winston print here....are they wanting this back as well?

Please keep us posted.

I wouldn't give out your phone number.
However, block your phone number and then call them, see what they have to say.
Either they are being way over protective with lawyers who don't know what they are doing, or it is a scam.
My 2 cents.
Scott

Yep BS. I remember salivating over that TRex when I saw it in one of the shops.

I would tell them to fire their research para-legals as they obviously don't have a clue!

Dont reply and dont give your phone number. I belive its a scam and possible to access your information or a valuable item. If they are seriouse they buy it them self and take it from there or they will issue a vero.

Yeah, I don't think it's a scam but I do think there was some sort of mis-understanding. I know he's just looking out for the Estate's best interest. I'd say give him a call and straighten it out. If you'd like, block your number, HOWEVER, I would suggest editing your posts and removing his number from this site, but that's just me.

Wow. It's clearly a really sloppy (or stupid) lawyer or an uninformed legal assistant who is trolling for Winston artifacts and found your items on eBay.
I would call (block your number) and ask them for an apology for the poor research going on with their lawyers and that for harassing you and mental stress, you want something in return, at least a written letter of apology.

Remind them that the pieces are for sale, if they'd like to buy them.

I won't remove his number(only if the admin ask me so), I want people to know that there are people like them out there doing this kind of business.

Demand? Inform them that you DEMAND they STFU.

:lol

Most definitely.

I did asked for an apology but what I got was in the 2nd post.

Real sloppy legal work. If he had done his job properly he'd know they were bought legit.
You don't have anything to prove. It's up to them to prove it. If they push it too far I forsee they'll be on the losing side.

I'm letting them come to me. I have everything ready, including the UPC Barcode.

Preponderance of evidence is a nasty thing which results in the people with the largest pocket books giving the most "evidence". Far cry from beyond a reasonable doubt.
