SS Tie Fighter build up FINISHED!!!!!!

Wow that is awsome. The color is perfect.I can`t wait to get into building mine.:)

cheers,
Ben

That looks spot on GF, it's great to see a kit that goes together so well and can be finished so quick....no hassle of filling, sanding etc, before you can admire your work..

Must get one of these one day

It's not quite as simple as GF makes it look, there will always be some flash to be removed and some filing, filling and sanding to make any garage kit look perfect. But I will say that Steve's kits require alot less than most I've put together. :)

Perfectly said Dave,

Still lots of sanding and finishing for everything to fit perfect, I spent lots of time cleaning and filling spots on the wings, also took lots of time fitting the two half hulls around the armature which was too small in diameter leaving gaps, I had to compensate by adding 0.20mm sleeves, then sand again until everything was flush and perfect. I hope my build will help others as the most time consuming is figuring out how to fix the little bugs.

Hope you don' get tired of hearing this...

Great Job! Very nice indeed!!
Thanks for posting all the pics

I don't suppose you can let us in on the color/paint you decided on for the base coat ?? (ANH version)

:cool

Thanks for the nice words guys,

The closest ANH base color match is Tamiya TS 32 Haze Grey, comes only in a spray can, has a satin finish so you will need to dull coat the model afterwards.

Photo below shows a real ANH Tie hatch next to a Tamiya TS32 Haze Grey color sample and it's damn close,

For the black I used Krylon semi flat black, perfect sheen for real koolshade effect, Inside cockpit and side window frame details I used Testors Model Master Navy Agressor Grey and the Window frame Krylon Grey Primer. Window frame should be Darker than the side Window frame details and interior which is a lighter gray, that's how the Studio model was painted from studying my refference photos.

Boy that would have been confusing back when you guys were making trooper armor together. The name brand Gino&Gino would have been so catchy though.:lol

I love this build up Gerardo. Its inspiration for when I go to build my Tie someday.

Can you name the other colors in that picture you posted?
I like the Haze Grey alot even though its a bit dark. (still damn good) But what is the Dark grey a panel above it that seems to match the grey on the darker Tie panels? I cant quite make out the number.

I don't know the other colors I didn't use them, you have to ask the original person who took that photo.

Haze grey might look too dark to your eyes but if you want to match the studio model that's the closest, just compare photos of real Tie in my thread, tie with damaged wing. We are so used at seeing the ties very light in the movies, when in fact they are pretty dark.

GF,

Well done my man and thanks guys for the kind words! No doubt the most accurate kit out there. GF has done it wonders! I have to build one for me now!

Steve

WOW !! Very nice build up... It looks great..

I'm happy to see that the casting are going together with out too much trouble. I think about building a little slop into the masters at times.(guess I should have put a lot of slop into my at-st legs :rolleyes.) BUT then I remember that Steve will be casting them:cool . LOL.. small plug there..

Can't wait to see the rest of the builds on the boards..
