Squirrel Girl? Really?

I was playing LEGO Marvel Superheroes the other day and my nephew said he unlocked Squirrel Girl. I thought he was kidding until he bought the character. She throws squirrels at people... He said "Lamest. Superpower. Ever." :lol So what's the deal, did she get bitten by a radioactive squirrel?

I do NOT get the love for this character.... I play Marvel Heroes Online and she is easily the most annoying character in the game.

I think she just was meant to be one of those goofy marvel characters back when the marvel universe was too serious and it got out of hand. She's the female deadpool in that aspect.

I LOVE Squirrel Girl! I've seen her in other comics where she takes her role more seriously than being just the comic relief and they're really good.

Well, she's a hell of a fighter, supposedly able to take down Wolverine in one-on-one combat.

I'm pretty much convinced that her actual mutant power is one where the more powerful an opponent is, the more likely they are to lose to Squirrel Girl...

Marvel does that now and then, i mean the turned Speedball from goofy hero into tortured soul Penance during Civil War. Her creation was a good thing because in the early 90s marvel was going to really dark places with storylines in most of their books in order to seem edgy.

Yea, she was a sort-spoof character as stated to in a way make fun of the very random/obscure super-heroes...more so to appear to be a hero with useless super powers...so they make her capable of taking out the higher profile/most dangerous villains.

That and having her take out the worst villains makes for good humor in the comics as they're so ashamed of losing to her that they get made fun of by other characters.

If you look at the panels of her fight with Wolverine, he's not even trying to hit her back.

I don't think Wolverine every really tries in sparring matches when he has to be careful that he won't hurt someone.

On a slightly unrelated note it's nice to see from those panels that Marvel got good artists again. For a while they and darkhorse seemed to have been hiring 5 year olds with crayons (especially DH and their Dead Space books).

Better than Rob Liefeld and his impossible physiques, lack of feet, multiple grimaces, gigantic guns (complete with not one, but TWO barrels!), plethora of pouches (I swear some of his pouches have pouches), and... ah screw it. Just suffer along with me here:

A few months ago, I had to break the news that Liefeld sucks to a guy who genuinely thought his art was good. It was a slightly painful discussion, but one that will make him a better judge of art in the long run.

A good friend of mine actually learned to draw by emulating Liefeld. It was funny to see him go to art school and have to relearn everything from scratch.

He still can't draw feet, though...

Not sure which Liefeld should pay more for: his bad art or Deadpool. Neither brought much to comics. That said some of his characters have brought big bucks to marvel. Funny thing is i've seen a few pics that he's done that aren't bad and don't look like his usual stuff.
