Squall´s Gunblade from FF VIII

Hello everyone.
Her is my newest build.
It is the gun Sqall´s Gunblade.
For this project i am using Plywood.

How did you go about making the grooves on the side of the cylinder?

I have used a chisel and for the round pars of the grooves a rotation tool.
