Spock's Harp

I was speaking of TOS; obviously others were made later.

"Chang’s original prop was made of a single piece of solid wood and featured a filament strung up and down multiple times to give the impression of many strings. It was not a functional instrument. After TOS, it was painted black and featured in an episode of Mork and Mindy"

Note the singular references

Also, don't believe everything you read on the net about any TOS Props.....Lot's of self proclaimed "Experts" out there whom are legends in their own minds...

After 40+ years in the hobby (+ Having access to several Screen Used TOS Pieces) and 100's of TOS Props in my collection later, I still know little to nothing about the originals.

Best to ask rather than to state this is the way it is. ;)

The problem is, who can you ask? Chang is dead, and unfortunately, so are so many of his colleagues from back then. Paramount is totally uncooperative; the guitar company that made the harps is long since gone; and we don't know who Perry Wright is, or where he went to... So it's probably easier to get information on how to make a Stradivarius violin than on how to make a Vulcan harp. :cry

Working, non working, wood, plexi, fiberglass, I don't care. Again, I want a wall hanger that looks the part.

Well, as P. T. Barnum once said, you can pay your money and take your chances-- order a non-playable one from Starfortress and see if you actually get it before you get too much older. ;-)

Personally, I think it's disgusting that a company says they have a product to sell, but don't actually have any on the shelf or tell you that it's a custom item that could take nine to twleve years-- uh, months-- before the item is finished.
